Objective: To evaluate the effect of procedure time on thrombectomy outcomes in different subpopulations of patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy (EVT), given the recently expanded indications for EVT.
Methods: This multicenter study included patients undergoing EVT for acute ischemic stroke at 35 centers globally. Procedure time was defined as time from groin puncture to successful recanalization (Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction score ≥2b) or abortion of procedure.

While Brugada syndrome (BrS) is well described in adults and older children, presentation of BrS within the first 12 months of life is rare and therefore poorly characterized. We report a 7-year-old male with a malignant BrS phenotype with onset at 8 months of age, leading to multiple ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) related cardiac arrests and ultimately his death. The report is supplemented by a comprehensive review of existing literature on infantile-onset BrS and unique features in this population are discussed.

Background: Worsening tricuspid regurgitation (TR) after either permanent pacemaker (PPM) or implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation is an emerging clinical challenge. Early recognition of this entity is essential in guiding treatment.
Objective: This meta-analysis was designed to identify the overall incidence and patient-specific predictors of TR post-device implantation.

The translation of AI-generated brain metastases (BM) segmentation into clinical practice relies heavily on diverse, high-quality annotated medical imaging datasets. The BraTS-METS 2023 challenge has gained momentum for testing and benchmarking algorithms using rigorously annotated internationally compiled real-world datasets. This study presents the results of the segmentation challenge and characterizes the challenging cases that impacted the performance of the winning algorithms.

Background: Patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) often have a debilitating clinical course characterized by high disease burden, and poor quality of life and these factors adversely affect mental health. However, there is paucity of literature on the prevalence and impact of psychiatric disorders on hospitalized pediatric patients with CP.
Method: ology: We analyzed the Kids Inpatient Database, and National Inpatient Sample, between 2003 and 2019 and included patients up to 21 years of age.

Minimally invasive locoregional therapies have a growing role in the multidisciplinary treatment of primary and metastatic breast cancer. Factors contributing to the expanding role of ablation for primary breast cancer include earlier diagnosis, when tumors are small, and increased longevity of patients whose condition precludes surgery. Cryoablation has emerged as the leading ablative modality for primary breast cancer owing to its wide availability, the lack of need for sedation, and the ability to monitor the ablation zone.

Aviptadil, a lung-protective neuropeptide, and remdesivir, a nucleotide prodrug of an adenosine analog, were compared with placebo among patients with COVID-19 acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure.
Methods: TESICO was a randomised trial of aviptadil and remdesivir versus placebo at 28 sites in the USA.

Background: Surgical simulation has come to the forefront to enhance the training of residents. The aim of our scoping review is to analyze the available simulation-based carotid revascularization techniques, including carotid endarterectomy (CEA) and carotid artery stenting (CAS) and suggest critical steps for evaluating competency in a standardized fashion.
Methods: A scoping review of all reports on simulation-based carotid revascularization techniques including CEA and CAS was performed in PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane, Science Citation Index Expanded, Emerging Sources Citation Index, and Epistemonikos databases.

Cardiac adipose tissue (CAT) has become an important target for the reduction of disease risk. Supervised exercise programs have shown potential to "significantly" reduce CAT; however, the impact of different exercise modalities is not clear, and the relationships between CAT, physical activity (PA) levels and fitness (PFit) remain unknown. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships between CAT, PA and PFit, and to explore the effects of different exercise modalities in a group of women with obesity.

Outcomes in those with advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) are poor. Upon incidence of metastasis, the mortality rate has been shown to be >70% with median overall survival (OS) of less than 2 years. While there is no standardized combination and multimodal therapy recommendation for advanced cases, there is a significant necessity to include surgical intervention for improved locoregional control of disease and improved OS.

Background: The safety and efficacy of bridging therapy with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) and mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in patients with large core infarct has not been sufficiently studied. In this study, we compared the efficacy and safety outcomes between patients who received IVT+MT and those treated with MT alone.
Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of the Stroke Thrombectomy Aneurysm Registry (STAR).

The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly affected health care delivery. In addition to the significant morbidity and mortality associated with acute illness from COVID-19, the indirect impact has been far-reaching, including substantial disruptions in chronic disease care. As a result of pandemic disruptions in health care, vulnerable and minority populations have faced health inequalities.

Objectives: Compliance with Society for Vascular Surgery (SVS) clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) is associated with improved outcomes for the treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm, but this has not been assessed for carotid artery disease. The Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) registry was used to examine compliance with the SVS CPGs for the management of extracranial cerebrovascular disease and its impact on outcomes.
Methods: The 2021 SVS extracranial cerebrovascular disease CPGs were reviewed for evaluation by VQI data.
