The incidence of infections attributed to antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) pathogens has increased exponentially over the recent decades reaching 1.27 million deaths worldwide in 2019. Without intervention, these infections are predicted to cause up to 10 million deaths a year and incur costs of up to 100 trillion US dollars globally by 2050.

Objective: To evaluate the associations between psychological factors (pain self-efficacy, kinesiophobia, and pain catastrophizing), physical activity, and patient-reported hip function in patients presenting to physical therapy with chronic (>3 months) hip pain.
Design: Observational, cross-sectional.
Methods: Participants completed a survey including age, sex, height/weight, symptom duration, 11-item Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK-11), Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), Pain Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (PSEQ), and 12-item International Hip Outcome Tool (iHOT-12).

While cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, significant disparities exist in care access in low‑ and middle‑income countries (LMICs). In Liberia, screening and treatment for anal cancers remain limited, and are exacerbated among vulnerable groups, including men who have sex with men (MSM). Screen‑triage‑treat models for cancerous lesions have been successful in reducing cervical cancer mortality, but the feasibility of this approach has not been studied for anal cancers in a low‑resource context.

Introduction: Service academy members are at high risk for concussions as a result of participation in both sports and military-specific training activities. Approximately 17% of active duty service members are female, and they face unique challenges in achieving timely recovery from concussions. Understanding the unique characteristics affecting return to unrestricted activity (RTA) among female service academy members is imperative for the ever-growing proportion of females across the U.

Background: Selective inversion recovery quantitative magnetization transfer (SIR-qMT)-derived macromolecular to free water pool size ratio (PSR) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI)-derived radial diffusivity (RD) are potential metrics for assessing myelin integrity in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, establishing their accuracy in identifying tissue injury is essential for clinical translation.
Purpose: To compare the accuracy and Cohen's effect size (ES) of PSR and RD in detecting and quantifying tissue injury in early MS.

The availability of an effective vaccine does not equate to its use; its effectiveness primarily depends on vaccine acceptance by the targeted population. Despite the rapid development and widespread access to the COVID-19 vaccine, herd immunity is yet to be achieved, with vaccine hesitancy as a major barrier. This study sought to systematically assess the beliefs, attitudes, and acceptance towards COVID-19 vaccines, including factors contributing to vaccination hesitancy in the Eastern and Western Hemispheres.

Background: This review aims to analyze sex-related differences in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock (CS).
Methods: 10 studies were retrieved from PubMed and Embase comparing outcomes between men and women admitted with AMI complicated by CS. Pooled log odds ratios (OR) were calculated for binary outcomes using the Mantel-Haenszel method, and Hedges' g with the inverse-variance method was used for continuous outcomes.

Purpose: Oral adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) reduces the risk of cancer recurrence and death for women with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) breast cancer. Because of adverse symptoms and socioecologic barriers, AET adherence rates are low. We conducted post hoc analyses of a randomized trial of a remote symptom and adherence monitoring app to evaluate characteristics associated with higher app use, satisfaction, and how app use was associated with AET adherence.

Background: Adolescent violence in the United States is a prevalent public health problem and is understudied in rural settings. Anger is a significant risk factor for adolescent violence. To better craft adolescent violence interventions, it is important to examine anger and identify its most significant associated factors.

Background: Mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in several neurodegenerative diseases associated with memory and cognitive deficits, including Alzheimer's disease. Changes in bioenergetic function results in reactive oxygen species, oxidative damage and consequently neuroinflammation, which contributes to neuronal cell loss.
Objective: In this study, we evaluated the impact of the loss of the redox active [2Fe-2S] mitochondrial-associated protein mitoNEET (CISD1) on neuroinflammation and cognition using an age-appropriate preclinical model.

Monoamine oxidase (MAO) B is a promising target for treating stroke reperfusion injury, Parkinson's disease as well as other neurodegenerative diseases. Pharmacological inhibitors of this enzyme have demonstrated the ability to modulate critical neurotransmitter levels, decrease damaging reactive oxygen species and neuroinflammation, and improve mitochondrial dysfunction. We identified TT01001 from a pilot screen which showed good potency for inhibiting MAO-B, with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration below 10 μM.

Complex biological systems have evolved to control movement dynamics despite noisy and unpredictable inputs and processing delays that necessitate forward predictions. The staple example in vertebrates is the locomotor control emerging from interactions between multiple systems-from passive dynamics of inverted pendulum governing body motion to coupled neural oscillators that integrate predictive forward and sensory feedback signals. These neural dynamic computations are expressed in the rhythmogenic spinal network known as the central pattern generator (CPG).

Herpes zoster (HZ) is a cutaneous viral disease that typically presents with a dermatomal vesicular eruption. Immunosuppressed patients are more likely to have atypical HZ involving chronic ulceration and disseminated distribution, making diagnosis a challenge. The current report describes a unique case of HZ in a woman with systemic lupus on immunosuppressive therapy manifesting as persistent lower extremity ulceration with diffuse dermal and endothelial infection and secondary panniculitis without epidermal involvement.
