Skin aging is a complex phenomenon influenced by multiple internal and external factors that can lead to significant changes in skin structure, particularly the degradation of key extracellular matrix (ECM) components such as collagen and elastic fibers in the dermis. In this study, we aimed to meticulously assess the morphological changes within these critical fibrous ECM elements in the dermis of the same volunteer at age 47 and 10 years later (2012 to 2022). Using advanced histological staining techniques, we examined the distribution and characteristics of ECM components, including type I collagen, type III collagen, and elastic fibers.

Aquaporins (AQPs), also known as water channels, appear to be particularly promising in maintaining male reproductive potential. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the presence of classical AQPs in the bovine () reproductive system and analyze changes in their expression with age using immunohistochemistry and Western blotting. Due to their small size and high anthropogenic pressure, small watercourses are particularly prone to severe siltation and are densely overgrown with macrophytes. Many of these watercourses are subject to regular maintenance works (RMW), consisting of seasonal desilting and vegetation clearance, in order to ensure unobstructed water flow. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of three types of maintenance works: dredging and mud removal (DMR), river channel vegetation removal (RCVR) and river bank vegetation removal (RBVR) on taxa species richness, macroinvertebrate density and the Shannon-Wiener diversity index, as well as their changes and long-term benthic recolonization one and two years after completion of the works.

The aim of the study was to determine the changes occurring in the eggs of helmeted guinea fowl () from free-range farming in relation to the laying season and storage time. The experimental material consisted of 360 guinea fowl eggs, collected in the first, second and third laying seasons and stored for 7, 14 and 21 days. We investigate Dy-based coordination polymer CHDyNO (Dy-CP) exhibiting single-ion magnet (SIM) properties, , quantum tunnelling of magnetization (QTM), magnetic anisotropy, magnetic relaxation, and effective energy barrier (). To elucidate the underlying mechanisms, crystal field parameters (CFPs) for Dy ions were modelled using the radial effective charge model (RECM) and superposition model (SPM), and the computational packages SIMPRE and SPECTRE. The modelled CFPs enable the prediction of the energy levels and associated wave functions, which successfully explain the field-induced Dy-CP SIM properties.

Among parasites of the digestive tract of the black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus) in Poland, the best known are species of digenetic trematodes and cestodes. Nematodes of this bird species are not well known. Black-headed gulls, due to their varied diet, migration, life in a flock, and changes of habitat, can become infected with various species of helminths, and like synanthropic birds, they can spread the dispersal stages of parasites across urban and recreational areas.

Several rivers that are tributaries of the Oder estuary are inhabited by Salmo trutta L, the most important of which are Ina, Gowienica, and Wołczenica. Both forms of the species, sea trout and resident brown trout, are present. All rivers are traditionally stocked with either sea trout from the neighboring Pomeranian river Rega basin or resident brown trout from various locations.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the ultrastructure of the testes of sexually immature calves and reproductive bulls of the Polish Holstein-Friesian Black-and-White breed. Utilizing TEM, this study identified three distinct stages of seminiferous tubule development in calves, characterized by varying shapes, distributions, and arrangements of individual cells. In immature animals, early developing spermatocytes, prespermatogonia, and pre-Sertoli cells were observed within the seminiferous tubules.

The commercial ultrafiltration polyethersulfone (PES) membranes (10 and 100 kDa) blended with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) were applied for the filtration of car wash wastewater. Periodical membrane rinsing with water did not prevent fouling and a decrease in permeate flux was observed. Fouling was reduced by washing the membranes with cleaning agents, which are used in car washes to clean wheels and remove insects.
