Objectives: Individuals with lower-limb amputations (LLA) often have deficits in balance and community walking ability. As a result, people with LLA are often sedentary. The aim of this study was to explore perceptions of physical activity from the perspective of people with LLA.

Background: The clinical landscape of limb loss rehabilitation across Canada is poorly delineated, lacks standard rehabilitation guidelines, and is without a shared clinical database.
Objective: To address these gaps, the objective of the present study was to undertake an environmental scan of the rehabilitation centers across Canada that provide inpatient and/or outpatient services to the limb loss community.
Study Design: An environmental scan was conducted to describe the rehabilitation service structure, program services, and outcome measures of sites across Canada.

Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung condition which is characterised by recurrent chest infections, chronic sputum production and cough, and limited exercise tolerance. While bronchiectasis may be caused by various aetiologies, these features are shared by most patients with bronchiectasis regardless of the cause. This review consolidates the existing evidence on patient-managed interventions for adults with bronchiectasis, while also outlining areas for future research.

Introduction: People with Tuberculosis (TB) infection may present with glomerulonephritis (GN). The range of presentations, renal pathologies, and clinical outcomes are uncertain. Whether clinical features that establish if GN etiology is medication or TB related, and possible benefits of immunosuppression remain uncertain.

Background And Objectives: Available evidence suggests that adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) performed substantially worse than healthy controls on many balance measures and balance training can improve the balance measures in this population. We conducted this study to determine the effects of incorporating balance training into pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) on the incidence of falls at 12 months follow-up in high fall risk adults with COPD.
Methods: We conducted a prospective international multi-center randomized controlled trial.
Purpose: Little information is available to women with lower limb absence (LLA) and their health care providers regarding the impacts they may experience during the perinatal period. This study explores the physical impacts of pregnancy on women with LLA, including mobility, prosthesis fit and prosthesis use.
Methods: We conducted semi-structured interviews with 19 women with LLA who had experienced pregnancy in the last 10 years.

Introduction: Lower extremity amputation (LEA) is a life altering procedure, with significant negative impacts to patients, care partners, and the overall health system. There are gaps in knowledge with respect to patterns of healthcare utilization following LEA due to dysvascular etiology.
Objective: To examine inpatient acute and emergency department (ED) healthcare utilization among an incident cohort of individuals with major dysvascular LEA 1 year post-initial amputation; and to identify factors associated with acute care readmissions and ED visits.
Background: Rifampicin (RIF) is considered the backbone of TB treatment, but adverse effects often limit its use.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study examined patients treated for TB disease at our institution, and compared those who received RIF to those who were intolerant to RIF.
Results: A total of 829 patients were included.

Background: Although the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) in the management of chronic respiratory disease conditions (CRC) are well-documented, it remains underutilized. In Jordan, the scarcity of PR services denies those with CRC the opportunity to improve their functional capacity, mental health, and quality of life.
Objective: To explore the factors related to the implementation of PR in Jordan from the perspective of the healthcare professionals (HCPs).

Background: Major limb loss can have profound physical and psychosocial implications for individuals, impacting their quality of life and well-being. Despite the effectiveness of peer support in improving outcomes for various chronic conditions, its impact on individuals with major limb loss remains understudied.
Objectives: This review aims to explore the existing literature on peer support for individuals with major limb loss.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) increases fall risk, but consensus is lacking on suitable balance measures for fall risk screening in this group. We aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of balance measures for fall risk screening in community-dwelling older adults with COPD.
Methods: In a secondary analysis of two studies, participants, aged ≥60 years with COPD and 12-month fall history or balance issues were tracked for 12-month prospective falls.

When using amikacin to treat complex pulmonary disease (MAC-PD), a minimum inhibitory concentration resistance breakpoint of ≥64 mcg/mL is recommended. We explored whether amikacin resistance characterized by phenotypic drug susceptibility testing was associated with clinical outcomes or mutational resistance in a retrospective cohort of patients with MAC-PD. Despite little aminoglycoside exposure, amikacin resistance was common in our MAC-PD patients but was not associated with worse outcomes or gene mutations.

Introduction And Objectives: Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is a fundamental intervention to manage COPD, however, maintaining its benefits is challenging. Engaging in physical activity might help to prolong PR benefits. This study assessed the efficacy and effectiveness of a personalised community-based physical activity programme to sustain physical activity and other health-related PR benefits, in people with COPD.

Background: Women are disproportionately impacted by osteoarthritis (OA) but less likely than men to access OA care, particularly racialized women. One way to reduce inequities is through policies that can influence healthcare services. We examined how OA-relevant policies in Canada address equitable, person-centred OA care for women.

Background: There is limited research on the unique needs of women with lower limb absence (LLA) during pregnancy and postpartum. The lack of information can negatively impact women's physical and emotional experiences.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to explore the psychosocial experiences of individuals with LLA through the pregnancy and postpartum periods, and to provide information to women and health care providers (HCPs) on what they can expect.

Introduction: Inspiratory muscle training (IMT) is one possible strategy to ameliorate respiratory muscle weakness due to invasive mechanical ventilation. Recent systematic reviews have focused on respiratory outcomes with minimal attention to physical function. The newest systematic review searched the literature until September 2017 and a recent preliminary search identified 5 new randomized controlled trials focusing on IMT in critical care.
