Waterlogging stress is an important abiotic stress that adversely affects maize growth and yield. The mechanism regulating the early stage of the maize response to waterlogging stress is largely unknown. In this study, CM37 and cmh15 seedlings were treated with waterlogging stress and then examined in terms of their physiological changes.

A rapid and mild protocol for the exhaustive deoxygenation of various aromatic ketones to corresponding alkanes was described, which was mediated by TiCl and used ammonia borane (AB) as the reductant. This reduction protocol applies to a wide range of substrates in moderate to excellent yields at room temperature. The gram-scale reaction and syntheses of some key building blocks for SGLT2 inhibitors demonstrated the practicability of this methodology.

Lower limb microcirculatory ischemic disease is a vascular disorder primarily characterized by limb pain, gangrene, and potential amputation. It can be caused by various factors, such as hyperglycemia, atherosclerosis, and infection. Due to the extremely narrow luminal diameter in lower limb microcirculatory ischemic lesions, both surgical and medical interventions face challenges in achieving satisfactory therapeutic outcomes within the microvessels.

Heterogeneous Fenton-like catalysis is a widely used method for the degradation of organic pollutants. However, it still has some limitations such as low activity in the neutral condition, low conversion rates of metals with different valence states, and potential secondary metal pollution. In this study, a Fenton-like nanocatalyst was first created by generating ultrasmall copper nanoclusters (Cu NCs) on the surface of hydroxyapatite (HAp) through a process of doping followed by modification.

is a famous edible and medicinal herb, and polysaccharides are the main bioactive component in it. In this study, response surface methodology (RSM) combined with a Box-Behnken design (BBD) was used to optimize the enzyme-assisted extraction (EAE), ultrasound-microwave-assisted extraction (UMAE), and hot water extraction (HWE) conditions and obtain the polysaccharides named DHP-E, DHP-UM, and DHP-H. The effects of different extraction methods on the physicochemical properties, structure characteristics, and bioactivity of polysaccharides were compared.

Energy conservation and emission reduction are the general trend of the present world. In this study, a catalyst of 3WSH based on the waste recycle of waterworks sludge (WS) and Chinese herbs was prepared using one-step calcination treatment and then characterized by SEM, XRD, XPS, FTIR and BET. The catalytic performance of 3WSHB for activating potassium persulfate (PDS) was evaluated through the degradation of Safranine T (ST) in the presence of boron powder (B).

Gold nanoclusters protected by thiolate ligands are ideal models for investigating the structure-property correlation of nanomaterals. Introducing relatively weak coordinating ligands into gold thiolate nanoclusters and thus reforming their structures is beneficial for further releasing their activities. However, controlling the selectivity of the process is a challenging task.

Injectable self-healing hydrogels are being widely used in drug delivery, tissue engineering, and other fields. Because of their excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability, polypeptides are an ideal candidate for preparing injectable self-healing hydrogels. In this study, a polypeptide-based hydrogel with dual response to hydrogen peroxide and light was obtained by copolymerizing 4-arm PEG-amine, -(-nitrophenoxycarbonyl)-l-methionine, and -(-nitrophenoxycarbonyl)-γ--nitrobenzyl-l-glutamate.

The capacitance model suitable for the non-circular cross-section plasma is studied based on the capacitance model of the circular cross-section plasma. The coaxial elliptic-torus capacitor property is further derived and used to determine the capacity of non-circular cross-section tokamak plasma, such as EAST (Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak). By testing all the physical terms in this model, we find that the capacitance [Formula: see text]) is increasing exponentially with the increase of elongation ratio (k/k), while the minor radius ratio (a/a) is just reversed at the flat-top of plasma current, and the capacitance property is implicitly included in the H-mode study during the L-H transition.

Background: The enzyme phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL) controls the transition from primary to secondary metabolism by converting L-phenylalanine (L-Phe) to cinnamic acid. However, the function of PAL in pear plants (Pyrus bretschneideri) has not yet been fully elucidated.
Results: We identified three PAL genes (PbPAL1, PbPAL2 and PbPAL3) from the pear genome by exploring pear genome databases.

Four group 10 metal nanoclusters, Ni(4-MePhS), Ni(PhS), Pd(PhS) and Pd(PhS) were synthesized from disulfides based on a photochemical reduction-oxidation cascade process, which proceeds a different mechanism to that of the conventional two-step reduction process. The as-obtained nanoclusters possess oxidative resistance and structural robustness under different conditions. Their atomically precise structures are determined to be nickel or palladium rings in which the metal atoms are bridged by Ar-S groups.

Light-triggered treatment approach has been regarded as an effective option for sterilization due to noninvasiveness, limited drug resistance, and minimized adverse effects. Herein, we designed and synthesized a functionalized cationic polymer, CR-PQAC, with croconaine bridging agent and quaternary ammonium groups for photothermal enhanced antimicrobial therapy under near-infrared irradiation. The quaternary ammonium group on the pendent chain endowing CR-PQAC the ability to effectively bind to bacteria.

The insufficient cyclic efficiency and poor safety have prohibited the commercial applications of the lithium-metal anode because of its uncontrolled dendrite growth at the surface. A mechanically stable and highly ionic conductive solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) holds great promise to address the issues. Herein, a viable surface engineering approach is proposed for stabilizing the Li anode via a scalable artificial method.
