Objectives: To investigate the safety of early antiplatelet therapy for non-cardioembolic mild stroke patients with thrombocytopenia.

Methods: Data of acute ischemic stroke patients with baseline National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score ≤3 and a platelet count <100×10/L were obtained from a multicenter register. Those who required anticoagulation or had other contraindications to antiplatelet therapy were excluded.

Opportunities and challenges for anti-CD47 antibodies in hematological malignancies.

Background: The novel International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) grading system suggests that poorly differentiated invasive pulmonary adenocarcinoma (IPA) has a worse prognosis. Therefore, prediction of poorly differentiated IPA before treatment can provide an essential reference for therapeutic modality and personalized follow-up strategy. A nomogram for predicting mortality risk within 30 days in sepsis patients admitted in the emergency department: A retrospective analysis.

Objective: To establish and validate an individualized nomogram to predict mortality risk within 30 days in patients with sepsis from the emergency department.

Methods: Data of 1205 sepsis patients who were admitted to the emergency department in a tertiary hospital between Jun 2013 and Sep 2021 were collected and divided into a training group and a validation group at a ratio of 7:3. The independent risk factors related to 30-day mortality were identified by univariate and multivariate analysis in the training group and used to construct the nomogram.

The repair of diabetic wounds remains challenging, primarily due to the high-glucose-derived immune inhibition which often leads to the excessive inflammatory response, impaired angiogenesis, and heightened susceptibility to infection. However, the means to reduce the immunosuppression and regulate the conversion of M2 phenotype macrophages under a high-glucose microenvironment using advanced biomaterials for diabetic wounds are not yet fully understood. Herein, we report two-dimensional carbide (MXene)-M2 macrophage exosome (Exo) nanohybrids (FM-Exo) for promoting diabetic wound repair by overcoming the high-glucose-derived immune inhibition.

Poor prognosis and risk factors of nonoperative treatment hip fracture patients with end-stage renal disease.

This study aims to summarize the prognosis and risk factors of nonoperative treatment patients of hip fracture with end-stage renal disease (ESRD). A total of 113 individuals of hip fracture with nonoperative treatment were retrospectively enrolled, 38 patients with ESRD were defined as the observation group, and the other 75 patients without ESRD were served as the control group. The difference in 30-day and 1-year mortality rate between the 2 groups was compared.

Advances in far-infrared research: therapeutic mechanisms of disease and application in cancer detection.

Far infrared (FIR) irradiation is commonly used as a convenient, non-contact, non-invasive treatment for diseases such as myocardial ischemia, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. In this review, we focus on reviewing the potential therapeutic mechanisms of FIR and its cutting-edge applications in cancer detection. Firstly, we searched the relevant literature in the last decade for systematic screening and briefly summarized the biophysical properties of FIR.

Immunotherapies of acute myeloid leukemia: Rationale, clinical evidence and perspective.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a prevalent hematological malignancy that exhibits a wide array of molecular abnormalities. Although traditional treatment modalities such as chemotherapy and allogeneic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) have become standard therapeutic approaches, a considerable number of patients continue to face relapse and encounter a bleak prognosis. Safety and feasibility of anti-CD19 CAR T cells expressing inducible IL-7 and CCL19 in patients with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma.

Although CD19-specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells are curative for patients with relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma (R/R LBCL), disease relapse with tumor antigen-positive remains a challenge. Cytokine/chemokine-expressing CAR-T cells could overcome a suppressive milieu, but the clinical safety and efficacy of this CAR-T therapy remain unclear. Here we report the preclinical development of CD19-specific CAR-T cells capable of expressing interleukin (IL)-7 and chemokine (C-C motif) ligand (CCL)-19 upon CD19 engagement (referred to as 7 × 19 CAR-T cells) and results from a phase 1 and expansion phase trial of 7 × 19 CAR-T cell therapy in patients with R/R LBCL (NCT03258047).

Caveolin 1 (CAV1) is a membrane invagination protein critical for the endocytosis of macromolecules including albumin-bound chemotherapeutic agents. Here, we demonstrate that ERα limits the efficacy of nab-paclitaxel in breast cancer cells while genetic or pharmacological inhibition of ERα increased the sensitivity of ER+ breast cancer cells to nab-paclitaxel.

Predictive role of glycocalyx components and MMP-9 in cardiopulmonary bypass patients for ICU stay.

Background: Shedding of glycocalyx is relevant to worse prognosis in surgical patients, and elevated levels of serum matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) are associated with this phenomenon. This study aimed to investigate the dynamic alterations of serum glycocalyx components and MMP-9 during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), and evaluate their predictive capacities for prolonged intensive care unit (ICU) stay, as well as their correlation with coagulation dysfunction.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed serum levels of syndecan-1, heparan sulfate (HS), and MMP-9 at different time points during CPB, and assessed their association with prolonged ICU stay and coagulation dysfunction.

Data of 33,934 eligible patients with CC were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database in 2004-2015. We also included 176 patients with CC from the Affiliated Dongyang Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University.
