Background And Aim: The implementation of computer-aided detection (CAD) devices in esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) could autonomously identify gastric precancerous lesions and neoplasms and reduce the miss rate of gastric neoplasms in prospective trials. However, there is still insufficient evidence of their use in real-life clinical practice.

Methods: A real-world, two-center study was conducted at Wenzhou Central Hospital (WCH) and Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University (RHWU).

Sec1 regulates intestinal mucosal immunity in a mouse model of inflammatory bowel disease.

BMC Immunol

December 2023

Department of Gastroenterology, Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310016, China.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a common immune-mediated condition with its molecular pathogenesis remaining to be fully elucidated. This study aimed to deepen our understanding of the role of FUT2 in human IBD, by studying a new surrogate gene Sec1, a neighboring gene of Fut2 and Fut1 that co-encodes the α 1,2 fucosyltransferase in mice. CRISPR/Cas9 was used to prepare Sec1 knockout (Sec1) mice.

State Key Laboratory for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, National Clinical Research Center for Infectious Diseases, Collaborative Innovation Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Infectious Diseases, The First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Objectives: Faropenem has antituberculosis activity in vitro but its utility in treating patients with tuberculosis (TB) is unclear.

Methods: We conducted an open-label, randomized trial in China, involving newly diagnosed, drug-susceptible pulmonary TB. The control group was treated with the standard 6-month regimen.

Malfunctions in the immune system cause multiple sclerosis (MS), which initiates mild to severe nerve damage. MS will disturb the signal communication between the brain and other body parts, and early diagnosis will help reduce the harshness of MS in humankind. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) supported MS detection is a standard clinical procedure in which the bio-image recorded with a chosen modality is considered to assess the severity of the disease.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that causes mild to severe issues in the central nervous system (CNS). Early detection and treatment are necessary to reduce the harshness of the disease in individuals. The proposed work aims to implement a convolutional neural network (CNN) segmentation scheme to extract the MS lesion in a 2D brain MRI slice.

Article Synopsis
  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is common and may be influenced by total bile acid (TBA) levels, which prompted this study to examine their correlation.
  • A large sample of 67616 subjects underwent health examinations, and multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between TBA and NAFLD after adjusting for risk factors.
  • The findings suggest TBA has a protective effect against NAFLD, particularly in patients without diabetes, but further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms.

Linc00852 from cisplatin-resistant gastric cancer cell-derived exosomes regulates COMMD7 to promote cisplatin resistance of recipient cells through microRNA-514a-5p.

Cell Biol Toxicol

April 2023

Department of Gastroenterology, The Second Affiliated Hospital and Yuying Children's Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, 109 West College Road, Wenzhou, 325000, Zhejiang, China.

Objective: Cisplatin (DDP)-based chemotherapy is commonly referred to as advanced gastric cancer (GC). The purpose of this study was to unravel whether Linc00852 from DDP-resistant tumor cell-derived exosomes (Exos) promotes DDP resistance of GC cells.

Methods: Reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the expression of Linc00852, miR-514a-5p, COMM domain protein 7 (COMMD7) mRNA, Bax mRNA, and Bcl-2 mRNA.

Most randomized trials for acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) have investigated highly selected patients under idealized conditions, and the findings need to be validated in the real world. We conducted a population-based study of all APL patients in Zhejiang Province, China, with a total population of 82 million people, to assess the generalization of all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and arsenic as front-line treatment. The outcomes of APL patients were also analyzed.

To analyze the correlation between serum uric acid, prealbumin levels, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and the severity of COVID-19. The data from 135 patients with COVID-19 was collected, and the patients were divided into a non-severe group (110 cases) and a severe group (25 cases), according to the severity of illness. Sixty cases with normal physical examinations over the same period and 17 cases diagnosed with other viral pneumonia in the past five years were selected as the control group to analyze the correlation between the detection index and the severity of COVID-19.
