Background: Gastrointestinal involvement is not uncommon in patients with disseminated talaromycosis, but successful management of massive gastrointestinal bleeding and hemorrhagic shock secondary to talaromycosis is rarely reported. Clinical management strategies for these patients have not been well documented.

Case Presentation: Here, we reported a case of disseminated talaromycosis with recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding and hemorrhagic shock who was successfully alleviated solely with medical treatment.

Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to investigate the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA).

Methods: An electronic search was conducted in eight databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, Chinese VIP Database, and Wanfang Database) from inception until December 2019. The risk of bias assessment of the included RCTs was evaluated by Cochrane collaboration's tool.

Article Synopsis
  • 3D bioprinting typically produces static biomedical materials that can't adapt to changes in the body's environment.
  • The introduction of 4D printing allows for materials that can change shape or function when exposed to specific stimuli, enhancing adaptability in biomedical applications.
  • The review covers current and potential uses of 4D printing in areas like tissue engineering and drug delivery, while also addressing limitations and future research directions.

Cycloserine for treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis: a retrospective cohort study in China.

Infect Drug Resist

March 2019

Department of Infectious Diseases, Huashan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai 200032, China.

Purpose: Cycloserine has been used in multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) treatment since the 1950s. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of cycloserine and sought to clarify the role of cycloserine for treatment of simple MDR-TB, pre-extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (pre-XDR-TB), and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB).

Materials And Methods: A retrospective observational study was performed in Zhejiang Province, China.

An increasing number of reports have indicated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in the pathogenesis of colorectal cancer (CRC). However, many lncRNAs remain unidentified in CRC, and their functions are yet to be elucidated. In this study, we investigated the function of lncRNA LOC101927746 in CRC progression.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) represent a novel type of noncoding RNAs of over 200 nucleotides, characterized by no or limited protein-coding potential. Although the function of lncRNAs attracts increasing attention recently, the relationship between lncRNA and colorectal cancer (CRC) remains further investigation. In our study, we found that lncRNA HAND2-AS1 was markedly downregulated in CRC tissues.

A 3D navigation template for guiding a unilateral lumbar pedicle screw with contralateral translaminar facet screw fixation: a study protocol for multicentre randomised controlled trials.

BMJ Open

July 2017

Department of Spine Surgery, Orthopaedic Hospital, The Second Affiliated Hospital and Yuying Children's Hospital of the Wenzhou Medical University, The Second Medical School of the Wenzhou Medical University, Zhejiang Spine Center, Wenzhou, China.

Introduction: The incidence of lumbar disc degeneration disease has increased in recent years. Lumbar interbody fusion using two unilateral pedicle screws and a translaminar facet screw fixation has advantages of minimal invasiveness and lower costs compared with the traditional methods. Moreover, a method guided by a three-dimensional (3D) navigation template may help us improve the surgical accuracy and the success rate.

Article Synopsis
  • ACDF has been the traditional method for treating cervical degenerative disc disease, but it can lead to increased pressure on adjacent levels and potential degeneration there.
  • CDA aims to preserve motion at the treated level and reduce strain on neighboring discs, and this study will compare the long-term outcomes of both techniques over 5 years or more.
  • A systematic review and meta-analysis will be conducted using data from several medical databases, with results planned for presentation at conferences and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
