Osteosarcoma is a common malignancy that often occurs in children, teenagers and young adults. Although the treatment strategy has improved, the results are still poor for most patients with metastatic or recurrent osteosarcomas. Therefore, it is necessary to identify new and effective prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for diseases.

Vascular calcification is a common accompanying pathological change in many chronic diseases, which is caused by calcium deposition in the blood vessel wall and leads to abnormal blood vessel function. With the progress of medical technology, the diagnosis rate of vascular calcification has explosively increased. However, due to its mechanism's complexity, no effective drug can relieve or even reverse vascular calcification.

Background: Neuroblastoma, a neuroendocrine tumor originating from the sympathetic ganglia, is one of the most common malignancies in childhood. RTEL1 is critical in many fundamental cellular processes, such as DNA replication, DNA damage repair, genomic integrity, and telomere stability. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the RTEL1 gene have been reported to confer susceptibility to multiple cancers, but their contributing roles in neuroblastoma remain unclear.

Osteoporosis is a common metabolic disease in middle-aged and elderly people. It is characterized by a reduction in bone mass, compromised bone microstructure, heightened bone fragility, and an increased susceptibility to fractures. The dynamic imbalance between osteoblast and osteoclast populations is a decisive factor in the occurrence of osteoporosis.

The gut is colonized by many commensal microorganisms, and the diversity and metabolic patterns of microorganisms profoundly influence the intestinal health. These microbial imbalances can lead to disorders such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Microorganisms produce byproducts that act as signaling molecules, triggering the immune system in the gut mucosa and controlling inflammation.

Thousands of microorganisms reside in the human gut, and extensive research has demonstrated the crucial role of the gut microbiota in overall health and maintaining homeostasis. The disruption of microbial populations, known as dysbiosis, can impair the host's metabolism and contribute to the development of various diseases, including cardiovascular disease (CVD). Furthermore, a growing body of evidence indicates that metabolites produced by the gut microbiota play a significant role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease.

Background: Many children and young people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) display touch defensiveness or avoidance (hypersensitivity), or engage in sensory seeking by touching people or objects (hyposensitivity). Abnormal sensory responses have also been noticed in mice lacking ASD-associated genes. Tactile sensory information is normally processed by the somatosensory system that travels along the thalamus to the primary somatosensory cortex.

Previous studies have reported that visfatin can regulate macrophage polarisation, which has been demonstrated to participate in cardiac remodelling. The aims of this study were to investigate whether visfatin participates in transverse aortic constriction (TAC)-induced cardiac remodelling by regulating macrophage polarisation. First, TAC surgery and angiotensin II (Ang II) infusion were used to establish a mouse cardiac remodelling model, visfatin expression was measured, and the results showed that TAC surgery or Ang II infusion increased visfatin expression in the serum and heart in mice, and phenylephrine or hydrogen peroxide promoted the release of visfatin from macrophages in vitro.

Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-induced apoptosis and autophagy flux blockade significantly contribute to neuronal pathology of spinal cord injury (SCI). Yet, the molecular interplay between these two distinctive pathways in mediating the pathology of SCI remains largely unexplored. Currently, we aimed at exploring the crucial role of Stub1 in maintaining ER homeostasis and regulating autophagic flux after SCI.

The steady-state gut microbiome not only promotes the metabolism and absorption of nutrients that are difficult to digest by the host itself, but also participates in systemic metabolism. Once the dynamic balance is disturbed, the gut microbiome may lead to a variety of diseases. Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) affects 1-2% of women of reproductive age, and its prevalence has increased in recent years.

Objectives: To confirm the predictive value of targeted therapies for oncogenic driver gene mutations detected in malignant pleural effusion (MPE) cell blocks from patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
Methods: For patients with NSCLC whose tumor tissues could not be used to detect oncogenic driver gene status, molecular mutation status in 101 MPE cell blocks was tested using amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction prior to treatment. Corresponding targeted therapies were adopted based on the detection results.

Standardisation and harmonisation of the detection of autoantibodies is important for the clinical application of autoantibodies. However, achieving complete standardisation is difficult and involves several challenges due to the complexity and particularity of autoantibody detection. Harmonisation is feasible and valued, but it involves all aspects and processes of autoantibody detection.
