Extracellular vesicles (EV) are important for delivering biologically active substances to facilitate cell-to-cell communication. Milk-derived EV are widely known because of their potential for immune enhancement. However, procedures for isolating milk-derived EV have not been fully established.

We previously reported that triglyceride (TG) levels in small-for-gestational age (SGA) newborns were significantly higher than those in appropriate-for-gestational age (AGA) newborns. Stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) activity is required for TG synthesis, while lipoprotein lipase mass (LPLm) facilitates TG clearance. The purpose of this study is to reveal whether SCD activity or LPLm is the cause of high TG levels in SGA newborns.

Background: Casein is the most dominant causal allergen in cow's milk allergy (CMA). Casein hydrolysates are frequently applied in infant formulas for children with a risk or history of CMA. However, there is limited information on the oral tolerance-inducing ability of casein hydrolysates.

Background And Objectives: The safety and tolerability of hydrolysed cow's milk protein-based formulas, particularly partially hydrolysed formulas (pHFs), in children with cow's milk allergy (CMA) remain poorly understood. We evaluated the tolerability of hydrolysed cow's milk-based formulas in children with CMA.
Methods And Study Design: A three-period double-blind crossover evaluation compared the allergic tolerance against three dietary cow's milk-based formulas: extensively hydrolysed cow's milk formula (eHF), pHF, and regular cow's milk formula (rCMF).

Background: Term infants can be categorized into 3 sub-groups: early term (37w0d to 38w6d), full term (39w0d to 40w6d), and late term (41w0d and beyond). However, the fatty acid composition among the 3 groups of term infants has not been investigated. The association between fatty acid composition and gestational period of term infants in Japan is unclear.

The nutritional environment to which animals are exposed in early life can lead to epigenetic changes in the genome that influence the risk of obesity in later life. Here, we demonstrate that the fibroblast growth factor-21 gene (Fgf21) is subject to peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) α-dependent DNA demethylation in the liver during the postnatal period. Reductions in Fgf21 methylation can be enhanced via pharmacologic activation of PPARα during the suckling period.
