Purpose: The purpose of this feasibility study was to determine the effectiveness of an interprofessional led low-fidelity simulation program over three timepoints on maternal caregivers' perceived stress, sense of competence and discharge readiness for care of critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) infants requiring neonatal cardiac surgery.

Design And Methods: The Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) was administered to simulation and non-intervention groups at three timepoints: prenatal period, Cardiac Acute Care Unit (CACU) transfer, and rooming-in. Parental Sense of Competence (PSOC) was measured at timepoint two and three, and Readiness for Hospital Discharge (RDHS) was measured at timepoint three for the simulation group.

Aim: The aim of this study was to explore Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students' perceptions of the effectiveness of a unique teaching-learning strategy using their results from the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), an instrument for the assessment of intercultural competence, with their customized Intercultural Development Plan (IDP) in enhancing their cultural competence development in a nursing senior practicum. The study also examined student insights about how having a plan to develop their intercultural competence will have an impact on their future nursing practice.

A community-academic nursing partnership formed to care for the urgent healthcare needs of individuals extracted from human trafficking during a multidisciplinary team operation. During past human trafficking extraction operations, law enforcement and the state sexual assault nurse examiner coordinator recognized the need to meet the patients' immediate physical and emotional needs while providing essential comfort to the newly extracted individuals. Background: Firearms used in pediatric firearm deaths are most often obtained from the child's home, making secure firearm storage initiatives imperative in prevention efforts. Objective: This research study aims to identify the fundamental components of community adaptation for a culturally tailored care partner activation program for Filipino American family caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia (ADRD).

Design: The study utilized focus group interviews with community nurse leaders, stakeholders, and family caregivers of patients with ADRD.

Results: The research revealed that education and knowledge about the disease, community-based services and facilities, support groups and resources, spiritual and cultural values, and access to transportation are all critical components for community adaptation.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between planned behavior and self-determination theory in predicting health-seeking behavior among older adults with hearing impairment. A total of 103 participants aged 60 years and above completed a self-administered questionnaire that measured variables related to health-seeking intention, knowledge competence, relatedness, attitudes, stigma, and perceived competence and autonomy. The results of the study indicated that both the planned behavior and self-determination theory models significantly predicted health-seeking intention and behavior among older adults with hearing impairment.

Development of cultural competence is essential for nurses to meet the needs of patients, families, and communities. Immersion experiences abroad have been shown to facilitate the development of cultural competence in nursing students; not all students are able to participate in these experiences. Virtual exchange is an alternative type of immersion experience that requires no travel and few resources.

Introduction: In the United States, substance addiction is a major contributing factor to incarceration of mothers and separation of children from their families. Five hundred Family Treatment Courts (FTC) operate across the country to combat the growing problem of women addicted to drugs. The FTC model provides mothers with substance addiction treatment, intensive judicial monitoring, repeated drug testing, counseling, incentives or sanctions, and case management with the goal of reaching long-term sobriety and reunification with their children.
