Objective: To investigate the effect of aerobic exercise intervention to inhibit cardiomyocyte apoptosis and thus improve cardiac function in myocardial infarction (MI) mice by regulating CTGF expression through miR-133a-3p.

Methods: Male C57/BL6 mice, 7-8 weeks old, were randomly divided into sham-operated group (S group), sham-operated +aerobic exercise group (SE group), myocardial infarction group (MI group) and MI + aerobic exercise group (ME group). The mice were anesthetized the day after training and cardiac function was assessed by cardiac echocardiography.

In this work, acrylic cellulose hydrogel, a typical natural polymer adsorbent, was modified using MXene through in situ polymerization to create a synthetic inorganic-polymer composite known as MXene/cellulose hydrogel. FTIR, XRD, SEM, and thermogravimetric analyses were applied to characterize the chemical structure and micromorphology. The MXene/cellulose hydrogel was utilized for the removal of Pb from wastewater.

Understanding the mechanisms of sulfur and phosphorus transformation during composting is important for improving compost fertility. This study aims to investigate the microbial mechanism of available sulfur and phosphorus transformation during sheep manure composting under different moisture contents (45%: M45 and 60%: M60) on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau using metagenomics technology. The results showed that the final available sulfur and phosphorus contents of M45 were 11% and 13% higher than those of M60, respectively.

A Li alloy based artificial coating layer can improve the cyclic performance of Li metal anodes. However, the protective mechanism is not well clarified due to multiple components of the artificial layer and complicated interface in liquid electrolytes. Herein, a single-component LiSn alloy layer buffered Li anode is paired with a solid-state polymer electrolyte, where a metallic Sn film is sputtered onto the Li anode and the subsequent alloying reaction leads to the formation of a LiSn phase.

Genealogical Diversity of Endogenous Retrovirus in the Jawless Fish Genome.

J Microbiol Biotechnol

November 2023

College of Life Sciences, Shaanxi Normal University, Xi'an 710062, P.R. China.

Retroviral integration into ancient vertebrate genomes left traces that can shed light on the early history of viruses. In this study, we explored the early evolution of retroviruses by isolating nine Spuma endogenous retroviruses (ERVs) and one Epsilon ERV from the genomes of and . Phylogenetic analysis of protein sequences revealed a striking pattern of co-evolution between jawless fish ERV and their host, while shark ERV underwent ancient cross-class viral transmission with jawless fish, ray-finned fish, and amphibians.

Physiological changes with the assist role of soluble microbial products (SMP) of preserved denitrifying sludge (DS) undergoing long-term stress of starvation under different storage temperature is extremely important. In this study, SMP extracted from DS were added into DS in starvation condition under room temperature (15-20 °C), 4 °C and -20 °C with three different bio-augmentation phases of 10, 15 and 30 days. Experimental results showed that added SMP in room temperature was optimal for preservation of DS under starvation stress with optimized dosage of 2.

Theoretical study of the tuning role of β-methylthio or β-methylselenyl on the charge-transport properties of acenedithiophenes derivatives.

Phys Chem Chem Phys

April 2023

Laboratory of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, Institute of Theoretical Chemistry, College of Chemistry, Jilin University, Changchun, 130023, P. R. China.

To date, the manipulation of intermolecular nonconjugation interactions in organic crystals is still a great challenge due to the complexity of weak intermolecular interactions. Here we designed molecules substituted by β-methylselenyl on naphtho[1,2-:5,6-']dithiophene and anthra[2,3-:6,7-']dithiophene, respectively (anti-β-MS-NDT, anti-β-MS-ADT), which together with anti-β-MS-BDT synthesized experimentally all exhibited 2D brickwork π-stacking. Moreover, their maximum molecular carrier mobilities reached 3.

Nitrite denitrification has received increasing attention due to its high efficiency, low energy consumption, and sludge yield. However, the nitric oxide (NO) and nitrous oxide (NO) which are harmful to the environment, microorganisms, and humans are produced in this process. In order to mitigate NO and NO production, the biological mechanisms of NO and NO accumulation, as well as NO detoxification during nitrite denitrification in a sequencing batch reactor were studied.

2,6-Diphenyl anthracene (2,6-DPA) is a well-known anthracene derivative with high hole mobility (34 cm V s) among p-type organic semiconductors (OSCs). In contrast, three 2,6-dipyridyl anthracene (2,6-DPyA) molecules (-, -, and -pyridyl), which are isoelectronic to 2,6-DPA showed relatively low mobility in experiments. To explore the origin of different charge transport properties and gain new inspiration on the design of novel organic semiconductor materials, the intrinsic hole transport property of 2,6-DPA and three isomeric 2,6-DPyAs were theoretically investigated and compared by quantum-chemical methodology and molecular dynamics simulation.

In previous studies, polysaccharides (AAP) has been found to improve type 2 diabetes mellitus, but its mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we sought to demonstrate that AAP achieves remission by altering the gut microbiota in mice with type 2 diabetes. We successfully constructed a type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) model induced by a high-fat diet (HFD) combined with streptozotocin (STZ), following which fasting blood glucose (FBG) levels and oral glucose tolerance test (OTGG) were observed to decrease significantly after 5 weeks of AAP intervention.

Acyl-CoA: lysocardiolipin acyltransferase 1 (ALCAT1) can accelerate CL reactive oxygen production and cause mitochondrial damage. Although we have demonstrated that aerobic exercise significantly reduced ALCAT1 levels in MI mice, what is the temporal characteristic of ALCAT1 after MI? Little is known.
