Importance: Nonresponse to hepatitis B vaccine is common among people with HIV, resulting in vulnerability to infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV).

Objective: To compare the seroprotection response achieved with a 2-dose (noninferiority, 10% margin) and a 3-dose hepatitis B vaccine with a cytosine phosphoguanine adjuvant (HepB-CpG vaccine) vs a conventional 3-dose hepatitis B vaccine with an aluminum hydroxide adjuvant (HepB-alum vaccine) in people with HIV and prior nonresponse to HepB-alum vaccine.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This phase 3, open-label, randomized clinical trial included people with HIV receiving antiretroviral therapy (CD4 cell count ≥100 cells/μL and HIV RNA <1000 copies/mL) without past or present serological evidence of having HBV or a response to hepatitis B vaccine.

Less well studied are the effects of the small intestinal or colonic microbiome and its metabolites on motor and secretory activities in the esophagus and stomach. Sleep improves cognitive performance, yet little is known about the neural mechanisms of this improvement. We performed multielectrode recording in macaque visual and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex while animals performed a visual discrimination task before and after non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep. Although sleep induces synchronized fluctuations in population activity across cortical areas, the post-sleep population activity became more desynchronized relative to the pre-sleep state.

Background: The outcome for pediatric patients with high-grade glioma (HGG) remains poor. Veliparib, a potent oral poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose) polymerase (PARP) 1/2 inhibitor, enhances the activity of radiotherapy and DNA-damaging chemotherapy.

Methods: We conducted a single-arm, non-randomized phase 2 clinical trial to determine whether treatment with veliparib and radiotherapy, followed by veliparib and temozolomide, improves progression-free survival in pediatric patients with newly diagnosed HGG without H3 K27M or BRAF mutations compared to patient level data from historical cohorts with closely matching clinical and molecular features.

Background: Abaloparatide and teriparatide are osteoanabolic treatments indicated for postmenopausal women and men with osteoporosis at high risk of fracture. In the Abaloparatide Comparator Trial In Vertebral Endpoints study, bone mineral density improvements were significantly greater with abaloparatide compared to teriparatide at the total hip and femoral neck. We conducted a retrospective claims study to examine the incidences of hip and nonvertebral fractures and cardiovascular events in women aged ≥50 years initiating abaloparatide or teriparatide therapy, expanding on a previous retrospective claims study.
