An abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a life-threatening cardiovascular disease. We identified plasma insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) as an independent risk factor in patients with AAA by correlating plasma IGF1 with risk. Smooth muscle cell- or fibroblast-specific knockout of , the gene encoding the IGF1 receptor (IGF1R), attenuated AAA formation in two mouse models of AAA induced by angiotensin II infusion or CaCl treatment.

Background: It is challenging yet critical to differentiate between hemorrhagic transformation (HT) and contrast extravasation on non-contrast-enhanced computed tomography (NCCT) scans following mechanical thrombectomy (MT) in patients with acute ischemic stroke. We propose a new method called the ratio of maximum density values (RMDV) to minimize the confusion of contrast extravasation and to evaluate the diagnostic significance of RMDV in predicting HT on immediate post-interventional NCCT scans.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of the prospective patients' database who received MT for acute ischemic stroke caused by occlusion of the intracranial large artery and showed postinterventional cerebral hyperdensities (PCHDs) on NCCT scans immediately after MT.

Prognostic significance of glucose-lipid metabolic index in pancreatic cancer patients with diabetes mellitus.

Cancer Med

March 2024

Department of General Surgery, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital (Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences), Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Background: The incidence of pancreatic cancer (PC) is higher in diabetic patients due to disturbances in glucose and lipid metabolism caused by insulin resistance (IR). However, the effect of diabetes as well as IR on the prognosis of PC patients remains inconclusive. Our study aims to assess the impact of IR on the prognosis of PC patients with diabetes.

The role of lysosomes in airborne particulate matter-induced pulmonary toxicity.

Sci Total Environ

April 2024

The First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University, Biomedical Sciences College, Shandong Medicinal Biotechnology Centre, Shandong First Medical University & Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, Jinan 250117, Shandong, China. Electronic address:

An investigation of the potential role of lysosomes in airborne particulate matter (APM) induced health risks is essential to fully comprehend the pathogenic mechanisms of respiratory diseases. It is commonly accepted that APM-induced lung injury is caused by oxidative stress, inflammatory responses, and DNA damage. In addition, there exists abundant evidence that changes in lysosomal function are essential for cellular adaptation to a variety of particulate stimuli.

Background: Gallbladder stones are a common digestive system disease, but their diagnosis can be limited in some cases, especially in identifying "negative" stones, which may be difficult to recognize with traditional CT scans.

Objective: This study aims to explore the advantages of dual-energy CT in diagnosing negative gallbladder stones through a unique case of gallbladder stones.

Methods And Results: A case of a 31-year-old female is described, who was diagnosed with gallbladder stones during a physical examination two years ago and occasionally experienced pain in the upper right abdomen.

Background: Serum creatinine (Scr) may be not suited to timely and accurately reflect kidney injury related to chronic liver disease. Currently, the ability of arterial spin labeling (ASL) and blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) sequences to evaluate renal blood flow (RBF) and blood oxygen in chronic liver disease remains to be verified.

Purpose: To investigate the value of ASL and BOLD imaging in evaluating hemodynamics and oxygenation changes during kidney injury in an animal model of chronic liver disease.

The purpose of this study is to examine the viability, precision, and consistency of a computer-based optokinetic nystagmus analyzer (nystagmus meter) for diagnosing eyesight in preschoolers. A total of 59 subjects who could pass the log of minimum angle of resolution (LogMAR) visual acuity chart were divided into three groups by age, 4-, 5-, and 6-year-old groups, and their visual acuity was tested with nystagmus meter. The percentage of children in each age group that could be detected by nystagmus was recorded along with the differences between these groups.

November 2023

Department of General Surgery, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences, Southern Medical University, Guangzhou, China.

Genome-wide clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/CRISPR associated nuclease 9 (Cas9) screening is a simple screening method for locating loci under specific conditions, and it has been utilized in tumor drug resistance research for finding potential drug resistance-associated genes. This screening strategy has significant implications for further treatment of malignancies with acquired drug resistance. In recent years, studies involving genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 screening have gradually increased.
