December 2024

Department of Hematology, Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital, National Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Key Laboratory of Cancer Prevention and Therapy, Tianjin's Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Tianjin, People's Republic of China.

To evaluate whether patients with multiple myeloma (MM) could benefit from tandem autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT), PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Library databases were systematically searched, and 10 eligible studies were included after data extraction and quality evaluation. Meta-analysis showed that compared to single autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, tandem auto-HSCT does not improve OS, EFS or efficacy in MM patients, and may even lead to higher treatment-related mortality (TRM). MM patients who received autologous tandem allogeneic HSCT did not achieve better response compared to tandem autologous HSCT.

CD147 Mediates 5-Fluorouracil Resistance in Colorectal Cancer by Reprogramming Glycolipid Metabolism.

Front Oncol

July 2022

Department of General Surgery, Shandong Qianfoshan Hospital, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, Jinan, China.

Chemoresistance against 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) is a major issue for colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. Increasing evidence for the roles of CD147 in glycolipid metabolic reprogramming and chemoresistance of tumor cells has emerged in recent years. However, whether CD147 contributes to 5-FU resistance in CRC and the role of abnormal glycolipid metabolism in this process remain poorly understood.

July 2022

Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Qilu Hospital (Qingdao), Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, Qingdao, 266035, Shandong, China.

Background: Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is associated with oxidative stress and affects the survival and homing of transplanted mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) as well as cytokine secretion by the MSCs, thereby altering their therapeutic potential. In this study, we preconditioned the MSCs with prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) and performed in vitro and in vivo cell experiments to evaluate the therapeutic effects of MSCs in rats with PAH.

Methods: We studied the relationship between PGE1 and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) secretion, B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) expression, and C-X-C chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) expression in MSCs and MSC apoptosis as well as migration through the hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) pathway in vitro.

Preeclampsia (PE), a pregnancy disorder that affects 5-7% of pregnant women, is among the primary causes for maternal and perinatal mortality. PE is believed to be associated with insufficient invasion of villous and extravillous trophoblasts (EVTs), which hampers uterine spiral artery remodeling and finally induces PE. But the mechanism responsible for reduction of trophoblast invasion remains unclear.
