Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how intestinal sweet taste receptors and glucose transporters influence glycemic control in rats with Type 2 diabetes after undergoing duodenal-jejunal bypass (DJB) surgery.
  • Researchers evaluated changes in gut peptide levels, glucose transporters, and sweet taste receptors in different parts of the intestines following surgery.
  • Results indicate that DJB surgery improved glucose tolerance and stimulated gut peptide secretion, but this effect was negated when sweet taste receptor activity was inhibited, suggesting a link between taste sensing and glucose regulation.

Background: As one of the most common types of primary bone sarcomas in adolescents and young adults, osteosarcoma has a high probability of local invasion and distant metastasis with a poor prognosis.

Case Presentation: Here, we report the case of a 34-year-old patient with advanced metastatic osteosarcoma. Considering the high expression of PD-L1 and the inability of the patient to tolerate chemotherapy, anti-PD-1 antibody (sintilimab 200 mg, q3w) and anti-angiogenesis drug (anlotinib 8 mg D1-14, q3w) were administered.

Septic cardiomyopathy (SCM) is the main cause of death in critically ill patients with sepsis. However, its definitive pathogenic mechanisms remain to be elucidated. Lipid droplets (LDs) are important sub-organelles that store lipids and participate in intracellular lipid metabolism.

Precocious puberty, a pediatric endocrine disorder classified as central precocious puberty (CPP) or peripheral precocious puberty (PPP), is influenced by diet, gut microbiota, and metabolites, but the specific mechanisms remain unclear. Our study found that increased alpha-diversity and abundance of short-chain fatty acid-producing bacteria led to elevated levels of luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone, contributing to precocious puberty. The integration of specific microbiota and metabolites has potential diagnostic value for precocious puberty.

Thyroid metastases secondary to triple-negative breast cancer are sporadic. Diagnosis usually requires fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) and immunohistochemistry. There are no treatment guidelines for this type of cancer, and to date, reports of chemotherapy combined with immunotherapy in thyroid metastases are very rare.
