Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the epidemiological characteristics and association rules of concurrent extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) cases in China, addressing a gap in previous research that focused only on single-site EPTB.
  • Conducted from January 2011 to December 2017 on over 208,000 patients, the research found tuberculous pleurisy to be the most common lesion, and identified key association rules concerning different EPTB types based on gender and age.
  • The findings highlight the prevalence of multiple EPTB types occurring together and emphasize the need for increased awareness for timely diagnosis and treatment in clinical settings.

Although the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) has been used to predict recurrence and survival in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients, the prognostic significance of change in SII (ΔSII) is unclear for stage III NSCLC patients treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). In the present study we aimed to explore the association between ΔSII and the clinical outcomes of 142 patients with stage III NSCLC treated with CCRT. A total of 142 patients were included in this retrospective study.

Genome

September 2021

Department of Pathogen Biology and Immunology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an 710061, China.

Molecular identification of acaroid mites is difficult because of the scarcity of molecular data in GenBank. Here, acaroid mites collected from ground flour dust in Xi'an, China, were preliminarily morphologically classified/grouped. Universal primers were then designed to amplify and screen suitable DNA barcodes for identifying these mites.

Objective: Cervical cancer is one of the most common female malignancies worldwide and represents a major global health challenge. The fast growth of tumor and high rates of metastasis still lead to a poor prognosis of cervical cancer patients. It is urgent to clarify the mechanism and identify predictive biomarkers for the treatment of cervical cancer.

In clinical practice, PTB patients have concurrent many types of comorbidities such as pneumonia, liver disorder, diabetes mellitus, hematological disorder, and malnutrition. Detecting and treating specific comorbidities and preventing their development are important for PTB patients. However, the prevalence of most comorbid conditions in patients with PTB is not well described.

PLoS One

October 2020

Beijing Chest Hospital, Beijing Tuberculosis and Thoracic Tumor Research Institute, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a serious global public health problem in the present. TB also affects other sites (extrapulmonary tuberculosis, EPTB), and accounts for a significant proportion of tuberculosis cases worldwide. In order to comprehensively understand epidemiology of EBTB in China, and improve early diagnosis and treatment, we conducted a large-scale multi-center observational study to assess the demographic data and the prevalence of common EPTB inpatients, and further evaluate the prevalence of EPTB concurrent with Pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and the associations between multiple EPTB types and gender-age group in China.

Risk factors for lymph node metastasis and surgical methods in patients with early-stage peripheral lung adenocarcinoma presenting as ground glass opacity.

J Cardiothorac Surg

August 2020

Department of Thoracic Surgery, Shandong Provincial Hospital, Cheeloo College of Medicine, Shandong University, Jinan, 250021, Shandong, China.

Background: It is difficult to predict lymph node metastasis in patients with early lung cancer. Pure ground glass opacity (GGO) on computed tomography indicates an early-stage adenocarcinoma that can be removed by limited resection or lobectomy without the need for mediastinal lymph node dissection or sampling, and lung adenocarcinoma with GGO therefore has a good prognosis. We examined the incidence and risk factors of lymph node metastasis in patients with clinical stage IA lung adenocarcinoma.

CD59 receptor targeted delivery of miRNA-1284 and cisplatin-loaded liposomes for effective therapeutic efficacy against cervical cancer cells.

AMB Express

March 2020

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Weifang No. 2 People's Hospital, No. 7 Yuanxiao Street, Kuiwen District, Weifang, 261041, Shandong, China.

Co-delivery of two different therapeutics (miRNA-1284 and cisplatin (CDDP)) into the cancer cells in a single nanocarrier provides new dimension to the cancer treatment. In this study, we have designed the CD59sp-conjugated miRNA-1284/cisplatin(CDDP)-loaded liposomes for the enhanced therapeutic effect against cervical cancers. Compared with miRNA-1284/CDDP-loaded liposomes (LP-miCDDP), CD59 antibody-conjugated LP-miCDDP (CD/LP-miCDDP) showed a significantly higher cytotoxicity in HeLa cells.
