Suraxavir marboxil (GP681) is an antiviral drug inhibiting the polymerase acidic protein (PA) of RNA polymerase, of influenza. It has shown therapeutic activity against influenza A and B virus infections in preclinical studies. In this multicenter randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial, we aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of single-dose suraxavir marboxil (40-mg oral dose) in otherwise healthy outpatients aged 5-65 years with uncomplicated influenza unaccompanied by severe issues.

The incidence of lung cancer is the highest among all tumors, and treatment has become an urgent problem to be solved. The Drug-eluting bead-based bronchial arterial chemoembolization (DEB-BACE) combination immunotherapy is a rare neoadjuvant therapy for lung cancer surgery, which can significantly reduce the time it takes for lung cancer patients to undergo surgery. We report a male patient, aged 59-year-old, with Stage-III b squamous cell lung cancer accompanied by hemoptysis underwent surgical resection after DEB-BACE combination immunotherapy treatment 21 days later without obvious adverse events.

High blood lipids, blood glucose, or blood pressure ("3Bs") are established risk factors for cardiovascular diseases. However, the effects of vegetarian diets on these parameters were inconsistent in previous meta-analyses. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis with comprehensive subgroup analyses, quality assessment, and sensitivity analyses to confirm the effects of vegetarian diets on 3Bs.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on differentiating non-tuberculous mycobacteria pulmonary disease (NTM-PD) from pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) in patients with positive sputum smear results, identifying clinical characteristics of both diseases over a span of four years in China.
  • A total of 76 NTM-PD and 92 PTB cases were analyzed; findings revealed that NTM-PD patients were generally older, exhibited more symptoms like hemoptysis and dyspnea, and showed differing radiological features compared to PTB patients.
  • Advanced age, hemoptysis, and dyspnea emerged as key independent predictors for NTM-PD, emphasizing the need for careful

State Key Laboratory of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Department of Vector Biology and Control, National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, WHO Collaborating Centre for Vector Surveillance and Management, Beijing, 102206, People's Republic of China.

Background: Culex pipiens pallens and Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus are the dominant species of Culex mosquitoes in China and important disease vectors. Long-term use of insecticides can cause mutations in the voltage-gated sodium channel (vgsc) gene of mosquitoes, but little is known about the current status and evolutionary origins of vgsc gene in different geographic populations. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the current status of vgsc genes in Cx.

Background: A healthy, well-balanced diet plays an essential role in respiratory diseases. Since micronutrient deficiency is relatively common in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), micronutrient supplementation might have the beneficial health effects in those patients. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to demonstrate the impact of micronutrient supplementation on the lung function of patients with COPD.

  • The study aims to understand the clinical and pathological features of three cases of bronchiolar adenoma and ciliated muconodular papillary tumors by analyzing their diagnosis and treatment histories at the Second People's Hospital of Weifang City.
  • Researchers conducted a retrospective analysis, collecting data from 35 articles and 71 cases, discovering that most patients were middle-aged, with a significant number having a history of smoking, and conditions were often asymptomatic until detected through physical exams.
  • Histological examination revealed that these tumors displayed distinct patterns—such as acinar and papillary formations—characterized by specific epithelial components, while diagnosis was supported by immunohistochemical markers like p63,

Bidirectional regulation effect of rhubarb as laxative and astringent by metabolomics studies.

J Ethnopharmacol

February 2024

Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, No. 16 Nanxiao Lane, Dongzhimennei, Beijing 100700, China. Electronic address:

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Rhubarb, a prominent traditional Chinese medicine, has been employed as a potent laxative for centuries and garnered particular popularity among the youth owing to its notable efficacy in weight management. Historical records indicated that rhubarb initially exhibited robust laxative properties, but extended and consistent usage may lead to an astringent response in the later stage of long-term use. In contrast, steamed pieces of rhubarb (SR), preparing through the process of steaming with wine, have demonstrated a gentle laxative effect with no reported adverse effects.

Objectives: Cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury inevitably aggravates the initial cerebral tissue damage following a stroke. Peroxiredoxin 1 (Prdx1) is a representative protein of the endogenous antioxidant enzyme family that regulates several reactive oxygen species (ROS)-dependent signaling pathways, whereas the JNK/caspase-3 proapoptotic pathway has a prominent role during cerebral I/R injury. This study aimed to examine the potential mechanism of Prdx1 in Neuro 2A (N2a) cells following oxygen-glucose deprivation and reoxygenation (OGD/R) injury.

A novel strategy for screening mutations in the voltage-gated sodium channel gene of Aedes albopictus based on multiplex PCR-mass spectrometry minisequencing technology.

Infect Dis Poverty

August 2023

National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Tracking and Forecasting for Infectious Diseases, National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Beijing, 102206, People's Republic of China.

Background: The current prevention and control strategy for Aedes albopictus heavily relies on comprehensive management, such as environmental management and chemical control. However, the wide application of pyrethroids has facilitated the development of insecticide resistance, primarily via mutations in the voltage-gated sodium channel (VGSC) gene. This study aims to develop a novel strategy for detecting mutations in the VGSC gene in Ae.

Background: Numerous studies have demonstrated long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) play an important role in the occurrence and progression of cancer, and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) located in lncRNA are considered to affect cancer suspensibility. Herein, a meta-analysis was carried out to better assess the relationship of H19 polymorphisms and cancer susceptibility.

Methods: A literature search was conducted through using PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases to obtain relevant publications before Aug 23, 2022.

Background: Hyperlipidemia is one of the metabolic disorders posing great threat to human health. Our previous studies have shown that the nutritional properties of peanut meal after fermentation are markedly improved, and can effectively improve hyperlipidemia caused by high-fat diet in mice. In this study, in order to facilitate the further utilization of peanut meal, the effect of peanut polypeptide (PP) from peanut meal mixed fermentation on lipid metabolism in mice fed with high-fat diet (HFD) and its possible mechanism were investigated.
