Introduction: Activating Signal Cointegrator 1 Complex, Subunit 3 () has been implicated in the pathogenesis of neurodevelopmental disorders and neuromuscular diseases (MIM: 620700). This paper analyzes the clinical manifestations of three patients with developmental delay caused by genetic variation. Additionally, we discuss the previously reported clinical features of these patients along with our own findings, thereby enhancing our understanding of these genetic disorders and providing valuable insights into diagnosis, treatment, and potential interventions for affected individuals.

Cervical cancer (CC) remains a highly prevalent cancer and cause of mortality amongst women worldwide. miR-758 has been demonstrated to be associated with tumorigenesis by controlling the expression of oncogenic or tumor suppressor genes. However, the function and mechanisms of miR-758 in CC have not been well illustrated.

Proanthocyanidin (PC) has attracted wide attention on cosmetics and pharmaceutical due to its antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, antiangiogenic, and anti-inflammatory activities. However, PC applications are limited because of its sensitivity to thermal treatment, light, and oxidation and the poor absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. Thus, a novel dosage form of PC needs to be designed to improve its stability and bioavailability for drug delivery.

Schistosomiasis is a snail-transmitted infectious disease affecting over 200 million people worldwide. Snail control has been recognized as an effective approach to interrupt the transmission of schistosomiasis, since the geographic distribution of this neglected tropical disease is determined by the presence of the intermediate host snails. In a recent Scoping Review published in Infectious Diseases of Poverty, Coelho and Caldeira performed a critical review of using molluscicides in the national schistosomiasis control programs in Brazil.

Preeclampsia (PE) is one of the leading causes of maternal and perinatal mortality and morbidity. One of the main hallmarks observed in PE is impaired inflammation state. In the current study, we found that miR-125b was deregulated in placental tissues and plasma derived from PE patients, which suggest a potential association between this miRNA and the pathogenesis of PE.

Hepatoid adenocarcinoma of the lung (HAL) is a rare type of extrahepatic hepatoid adenocarcinoma. The majority of such cases that have been reported in the English literature have demonstrated elevated serum α-fetoprotein (AFP) and/or positive AFP expression on histopathological analysis, and have had poor prognoses. The current study reports an extremely rare case of HAL in the right upper lung without AFP production in a 59-year-old male patient.

Emphysematous pyelonephritis is a severe necrotizing infection characterized by the presence of gas and/or fluid in the renal parenchyma, collecting system, or perirenal tissues. Emphysematous pyelonephritis with approximately 15 cm air-fluid level, diffused ureteral involvement, and the accumulation of gas in liver and peritoneal cavity is very rare. Here, we reported a severe emphysematous pyelonephritis with multiple huge air-fluid level mimicking intestinal obstruction and with the accumulation of gas in liver and ureter in computed tomography imaging.
