A growing number of 'Young' patients less than 40 years of age are being hospitalized with a diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) due to increased prevalence of risk factors for atherosclerosis. The aim of this study was to compare clinical characteristics and performances of AMI between young and elderly patients. We conducted a retrospective study to compare AMI in young patients and elder patients.

Aim: Exosomes present essential roles for intercellular interaction via extracellular pathways during systemic dysfunctions, including preeclampsia (PE). Here, we assessed the specific mechanism of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC)-originated exosomes in PE.
Methods: The effects of exosomes on trophoblasts were studied by EdU, wound healing, Transwell and TUNEL assays.

Spread of cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) into the brain parenchyma is a very rare complication of Ommaya reservoir placement and can take form of CSF edema or an intraparenchymal pericatheter cyst. Herein, we described an extremely rare case of a progressive enlarging intraparenchymal pericatheter cyst and CSF edema in a patient with cerebral cysticercosis following Ommaya reservoir placement. A heightened index of suspicion of this rare complication is required to prevent misdiagnosis as a tumor or brain abscess that may lead to unnecessary surgical explorations.

Upregulation of lncRNA HOXA transcript at the distal tip (HOTTIP) plays important roles in cancer progression. Nevertheless, its functions in the growth and metastasis of ovarian carcinoma are unknown. In this study, we demonstrated overexpression of HOTTIP in ovarian cancer cell lines and clinical tissues.

Accumulating studies have suggested the dysregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in brain tumors, including glioma. miR-6869-5p has been documented to be aberrantly expressed in diverse cancers. However, the precise role of miR-6869-5p in glioma remains poorly understood.

Background: The outcomes of corticosteroid injection (CSI) and extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) as primary treatment of plantar fasciitis have been debated. This study was conducted to compare and evaluate the therapeutic effects of ultrasound-guided CSI versus medium frequency ESWT in the treatment of plantar fasciitis among Chinese population.
Methods: This study was a single-center, randomized, and double-blinded trial.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the diagnostic and screening performance of a standardized methylation-specific real-time PCR assay targeting and genes for cervical cancer in a Chinese cohort.
Methods: Genomic DNA was extracted from cervical exfoliated cells and converted by sodium bisulfite and then analyzed by qMSP assay. Ct values were collected for and as target genes and as an endogenous reference gene.

The ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 N (UBE2N) has been reported to be involved in the tumorigenesis of several tumors, but its function in cervical carcinoma has not been investigated yet. In the present study, UBE2N was found elevated in cervical carcinoma, and patients with high UBE2N had a shorter overall survival than patients with low expression. Additionally, knockdown of UBE2N decreased the activation of MEK1/2 and p38 in cervical carcinoma cells, and UBE2N knockdown also markedly inhibited cervical carcinoma cell growth.

To analyze the impact of polymorphism rs1801274 on the occurrence of Kawasaki disease (KD) through the meta-analysis. The correlation between polymorphism rs1801274 and the susceptibility to KD was appraised using summarized odds ratios (ORs) with their 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs). Besides, stratification analyses were further implemented on the basis of ethnicity and control source, respectively.

Our previous study revealed a higher incidence of gene dynamic mutation in newborns conceived by IVF, highlighting that IVF may be disruptive to the DNA stability of IVF offspring. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. The DNA damage repair system plays an essential role in gene dynamic mutation and neurodegenerative disease.

Purpose: To assess testicular mRNA and protein expression levels of MRE11 and RAD50 in human azoospermia patients.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with maturation arrest at the spermatocyte stage (MA) and Sertoli cell-only syndrome (SCOS) were recruited through diagnostic testicular biopsy. Patients with normal spermatogenesis were studied as controls.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), a general kind of bronchogenic malignancy globally, is depicted as one of the most critical factors affecting human health severely. Featured with loop structure, circular RNA (circRNA) has been described as an essential regulator of multiple human malignancies. Nevertheless, knowledge concerning the regulatory function of circRNA in LUAD progression remains limited.

Ski, an evolutionary conserved protein, is involved in the development of a number of tumors, such as Barrett's esophagus, leukemia, colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, hemangiomas and melanoma. However, studies on the functions of Ski in osteosarcoma (OS) are limited. In this study, firstly the differential expression of Ski in OS tissues and osteochondroma tissues was detected, and the expression of Ski in both human OS cell lines (MG63 and U2OS) and normal osteoblasts (hFoB1.

Multiple sclerosis is a disease characterized by inflammation and demyelination located in the central nervous system. Experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) is the most common animal model for multiple sclerosis (MS). Although the roles of T cells in MS/EAE have been well investigated, little is known about the functions of other immune cells in the neuroinflammation model.

A series of natural compounds have been implicated to be useful in regulating the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases. The present study demonstrated that the Scutellariae radix compounds baicalein and baicalin may serve as drugs for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. Following the administration of baicalein and baicalin in vivo, T cell‑mediated autoimmune diseases in the mouse model were profoundly ameliorated: In the collagen‑induced arthritis model (CIA), the severity of the disease was reduced by baicalein and, consistently, baicalein was demonstrated to suppress T cell proliferation in CIA mice.

Regulatory T (Treg) cells expressing tumor necrosis factor receptor 2 (TNFR2) are highly suppressive and are associated with immune homeostasis in various diseases. However, the role of TNFR2Treg subset and relevant cytokines in the development of cervical cancer (CC) remained unclear. In this study, 72 patients with CC, 30 patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and 30 healthy volunteers were enrolled.

Background: Recently, it is found that T-helper (Th) 22 cells are involved in different types of autoimmune and tumor diseases. But, till now, no study has been carried out to understand the involvement of these cells in cervical cancer (CC).
Methods: Flow cytometry was used to determine the expression of interferon gamma (IFN-γ), Interleukin-22 (IL-22), IL-17 in the peripheral blood of healthy controls (HC), CIN and cervical cancer patients.

Objective: To observe the effect of SHENG MAI ZHUSHEYE on the movement parameters and viability of human sperm in vitro.
Methods: We collected sperm samples from 33 normal fertile men, divided each into two, and cultured them in vitro with SHENG MAI ZHUSHEYE + Hams-F10 and Hams-F10 alone, respectively. Then we measured the straight line velocity (VSL), curvilinear velocity (VCL), average path velocity (VAP) and the amplitude of lateral head displacement (ALH) of the sperm by computer-aided semen analysis at 0.
