Effect of different modalities of transcranial magnetic stimulation on Parkinson's patients cognitive impairment and long-term effectiveness: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.

Objective: This study used network Meta-analysis to compare the effects of different transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) modalities on the effectiveness and long-term validity of improving cognitive function in Parkinson's patients.

Methods: Computer searches of the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science, Embass, CNKI and Wanfang Data were conducted to collect randomized controlled clinical studies on TMS to improve cognitive function in Parkinson's patients published from the time of library construction to December 2023.

Results: A total of 22 studies and 1,473 patients were included, comprising 5 interventions: high frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (HF-rTMS), low frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (LF-rTMS), intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS), sham stimulation and conventional rehabilitation therapy (CRT).

Background And Objectives: Acute stent thrombosis (AST) is not uncommon and even catastrophic during intracranial stenting angioplasty in patients with symptomatic high-grade intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS). The purpose of this study was to investigate whether adjuvant intravenous tirofiban before stenting could reduce the risk of AST and periprocedural ischemic stroke in patients receiving stent angioplasty for symptomatic ICAS.

Methods: A prospective, multicenter, open-label, randomized clinical trial was conducted from September 9, 2020, to February 18, 2022, at 10 medical centers in China.

A mitochondria-targeted far-red fluorescent probe LY-1 with AIE character was formulated to track cell viscosity alterations with excellent sensitivity and selectivity, which was used to discriminate between mitophagy and ferroptosis in cancer cells. Probe LY-1 is expected to be an effective vehicle for the diagnosis of mitochondrial viscosity relevant diseases.

CT perfusion imaging parameters and serum miR-106a-5p predict short- and long-term prognosis in acute cerebral infarction patients after intravenous thrombolysis.

Background: Some microRNAs have been found to be abnormal in patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI) after intravenous thrombolysis. This study aimed to measure the expression of miR-106a-5p in ACI patients before and after thrombolytic treatment, and to investigate the prognostic value of miR-106a-5p and computed tomography perfusion imaging (CTPI) parameters in ACI patients receiving thrombolysis.

Methods: The levels of serum miR-106a-5p were detected by quantitative real-time PCR in 78 ACI patients before thrombolysis, 24 hours after thrombolysis, and 3 months (90 days) after onset.

Case Report: Recurrent meningioma with multiple metastases.

Post-surgery recurrence of meningiomas with multiple extracranial metastases is rare. Currently, information on extracranial metastases is limited, and no clear predictors and standardized treatment protocols can be applied clinically. Herein, we report a case of meningioma that recurred after two surgeries and had multiple distant metastases.

CCR4-NOT transcription complex subunit 4 (CNOT4) and RNA polymerase II-associated factor, homolog (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) (PAF1) are implicated in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the molecular mechanism of their interaction in NSCLC progression is unknown. The expression of PAF1 and CNOT4 in human NSCLC tissues was detected by quantitative polymerase chain reaction.

A new treatment strategy for airway obstruction induced by a giant benign goiter: A case report.

Severe respiratory distress induced by airway obstruction requires prompt attention for restoration of normal function in the airway passage. A large benign thyroid goiter that compresses the trachea is a rare occurrence. Emergency thyroidectomy with dyspnea can increase the chance of surgical complications in such cases.

Background: This study investigated a potential prognostic model based on telomere-related genes (TRGs) for the clinical prediction of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).

Methods: Gene expression data and associated clinical phenotypes were obtained from online databases. Differentially expressed (DE)-TRGs were identified between OSCC and normal samples, followed by protein-protein interaction and enrichment analyses.

Effect of topical antibiotics on the prevention and management of wound infections: A meta-analysis.

A meta-analysis research was implemented to appraise the effect of topical antibiotics (TAs) on the prevention and management of wound infections (WIs). Inclusive literature research was performed until April 2023, and 765 interconnected researches were reviewed. The 11 selected researches included 6500 persons with uncomplicated wounds at the starting point of the research: 2724 of them were utilising TAs, 3318 were utilising placebo and 458 were utilising antiseptics.
