Preoperative comprehensive risk estimation for axillary lymph node metastasis in breast cancer: development and verification of a network-based prediction model.

To prevent the overaggressive treatment of axillary lymph nodes (ALNs) in breast cancer, it is necessary to develop a convenient analysis method that accurately and comprehensively reflects whether ALNs are metastatic or nonmetastatic. We retrospectively analyzed data from patients who underwent surgery for breast cancer at the Weifang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between January 2019 and June 2023. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to predict the metastasis status of ALNs.

Case report: Bone marrow metastasis and bone marrow necrosis occurring 11 years after ductal carcinoma of the breast.

Ductal carcinoma (DCIS), a noninvasive breast cancer, rarely metastasises to distant locations. When the initial lesion is stable, bone marrow metastasis (BMM) and bone marrow necrosis (BMN) are even less common. Here, we report the case of a 47-year-old female patient who underwent localized surgery and radiotherapy for right-sided DCIS.

In this study, we aimed to investigate the impact of PPPS on SMI, myocardial enzyme levels, pathological changes, oxidative stress, cell apoptosis, and related signaling pathways in LPS-induced SMI models were observed by hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, immunohistochemical (IHC) staining, qPCR, Western blot analysis, with a particular focus on anti-inflammatory effects of PPPS.

Background: Poststroke cognitive impairment and dementia (PSCID) is a major cause of stroke-related morbidities and mortalities. Over the last few years, there has been growing evidence supporting the effectiveness of needle-related treatments in PSCID. Our goal was to rate the included therapies and assess the clinical effectiveness of various needle-related treatments in patients with PSCID.

Background: This study aims to investigate the short-term effects and safety of adjunct Suxiao Jiuxin Pills (SJPs) on conventional therapy in chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) patients who are intolerant to the adverse effects of long-acting nitrates.

Methods: This was a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. A total of 174 CCS participants from eight clinical study centers in China were included in the modified intention-to-treat analyses.

Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent type of arthritis and the main reason for progressive disability in middle-aged and older people. Studies of candidate genes may provide a novel insight and treatment strategy for knee osteoarthritis (KOA). The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between KOA susceptibility and single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of the ADAMTS-5 gene.

Method: Thirty-eight breast cancer patients completed a modified dot-probe task and the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale to assess attentional bias and emotional states.

The relationship between psychological distress and cognitive failure among breast cancer survivors: a network analysis.

Background: Psychological distress is highly prevalent and has a severe impact on the quality of life among breast cancer survivors. This type of distress is associated with cognitive failure. However, previous studies have focused solely on the total scale scores of these two concepts while ignoring the unique relationship between specific components.

Apatinib manifests an unexpectedly favorable outcome in the management of axillary lymph node follicular dendritic cell sarcoma: a case report.

We present a case of follicular dendritic cell sarcoma in the axillary lymph node, which unexpectedly showed favorable outcomes after the application of apatinib. Follicular Dendritic Cell Sarcoma (FDCS) exhibits a rare incidence and an unclear pathogenic mechanism, contributing to the limited breakthroughs in its treatment to date within the medical field. The current mainstream therapeutic approaches include surgery, CHOP(cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, prednisone), ICE(ifosfamide, carboplatin, etoposide), ABVD(doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine, dacarbazine), and immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Cephalometric Pharyngeal Morphology in Adults with Unoperated Cleft Palate.

Objective: The aim of this study was to cephalometrically evaluate the pharyngeal morphology in adults with unoperated Submucous Cleft Palate (SMCP), adults with unoperated Overt Cleft Palate (OCP), and adults without clefts.

Design: This study employed a retrospective cross-sectional design. Lateral cephalometric radiography was performed on three groups of adults: 1) 29 with unrepaired SMCP; 2) 41 with unrepaired OCP; and 3) 39 without clefts, who served as controls.

Artificial intelligence-based classification of breast lesion from contrast enhanced mammography: a multicenter study.

Purpose: The authors aimed to establish an artificial intelligence (AI)-based method for preoperative diagnosis of breast lesions from contrast enhanced mammography (CEM) and to explore its biological mechanism.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study includes 1430 eligible patients who underwent CEM examination from June 2017 to July 2022 and were divided into a construction set (n=1101), an internal test set (n=196), and a pooled external test set (n=133). The AI model adopted RefineNet as a backbone network, and an attention sub-network, named convolutional block attention module (CBAM), was built upon the backbone for adaptive feature refinement.

Deep learning (DL) techniques can build prediction models for treatment decision-making. The aim is to develop and evaluate a knee arthroplasty prediction pipeline using three-view X-rays to determine the suitable candidates for TKA, UKA or are not arthroplasty candidates.

Vitamin D is a lipid soluble steroid hormone, which plays a critical role in the calcium homeostasis, neuronal development, cellular differentiation, and growth by binding to vitamin D receptor (VDR). Associations between VDR gene polymorphism and Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) risk has been investigated extensively, but the results remain ambiguous. The aim of this study was to comprehensively assess the correlations between four VDR polymorphisms (I, I, I, and I) and susceptibility to AD, PD, and MCI.

The relationship between major depressive disorder and dementia: A bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization study.

Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) and dementia psychiatric and neurological diseases that are clinically widespread, but whether there is a causal link between them is still unclear. In this study, bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) was used to investigate the potential causal relationship between MDD and dementia via a genome-wide association study (GWAS) database, containing samples from the European population.

Method: We collected data on MDD and common clinical dementia subtypes from GWAS, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), Parkinson's disease with dementia (PDD), and vascular dementia (VaD).
