Vitamin D is a lipid soluble steroid hormone, which plays a critical role in the calcium homeostasis, neuronal development, cellular differentiation, and growth by binding to vitamin D receptor (VDR). Associations between VDR gene polymorphism and Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) risk has been investigated extensively, but the results remain ambiguous. The aim of this study was to comprehensively assess the correlations between four VDR polymorphisms (I, I, I, and I) and susceptibility to AD, PD, and MCI.

Several meta-analyses have investigated the effects of different doses of colchicine in treating coronary artery disease, but all dosing regimens were never compared in a single study. We aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of 3 dosing regimens of colchicine in patients with coronary artery disease. PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, and SCOPUS were searched for randomized controlled trials involving different colchicine doses.

Objective: Exosomes have been suggested to serve as possible drug delivery vehicles due to their nanometer-size range and capability of transferring biological materials to recipient cells. Thus, whether miR-183-5p-overexpressing bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (BMSC-Exos) could protect against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MI/R) injury by targeting FOXO1 was investigated.
Methods: Exosomes were isolated from rat BMSCs, and ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) rat models were established.

Background: Ischemia is the main cause of cerebral ischemic stroke with a high mortality rate, and it is affected by the dysfunction of circular RNAs. The underlying molecular mechanisms of circ_HECTD1 were explored in cerebral ischemia stroke.
Methods: PC-12 cells were treated with oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) as the cell model of cerebral ischemia model.

Background: The aim of this study is to unravel the role of Cyanidin-3-glucoside (C3G) and its potential mechanisms in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD).
Methods: The cell clones, proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion in H1299 and A549 cells were determined by colony formation assay, 5-ethynyl-20 deoxyuridine (EdU) assay, flow cytometry, and transwell assay, respectively. The expression of p53-induced gene 3 (TP53I3) was assessed and the prognostic values of TP53I3 in LUAD via the dataset from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA).

Thyroid cancer is a relatively common endocrine gland malignant tumor; if improper treatment, there will be a high risk of recurrence or metastasis, and abnormal sugar chain glycoprotein (TAP) has a close relationship with the development of the disease; therefore, the purpose of this article is to discuss abnormal sugar chain glycoprotein (TAP) as thyroid cancer curative effect evaluation and radiation and chemotherapy after surgery clinical significance. In this paper, 95 patients with thyroid cancer diagnosed in a hospital were selected as the study objects and treated as the observation group. The clinical and follow-up data of the observation group were retrospectively analyzed.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder. Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) urothelial carcinoma-associated 1 (UCA1) has been implicated in PD development. Nevertheless, little insight has been gained on the mechanisms of UCA1 in PD pathogenesis.

Spontaneous basilar artery occlusive disease is a disease characterized by thickening of the intima of the bilateral internal carotid artery and the anterior and middle cerebral arteries, gradually narrowing the arterial diameter, and compensatory dilatation of the perforating artery at the base of the brain. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), as a classic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, has been proven to have antiplatelet, anti-inflammatory, and immune-regulating effects. But how to achieve long-term sustained release of aspirin and achieve anti-platelet aggregation remains to be studied.

This study aimed to explore the association between serum non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) and cognitive dysfunction risk in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS). This cross-sectional study enrolled 583 AIS patients. Biochemical markers and lipid profile were collected after admission.

BACKGROUND The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the regulatory effects of acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) on atherosclerosis in Wister rats and to explore its anti-atherosclerotic mechanism. MATERIAL AND METHODS We randomly divided 32 Wister rats into 4 groups: a normal diet group (control group, n=8), a normal diet+ALCAR group (ALCAR group, n=8), an atherosclerosis group (AS group, n=8), and an atherosclerosis+ALCAR group (AS+ALCAR group, n=8). The serum lipid distribution, oxidative stress, inflammatory factors and adiponectin (APN) in the blood, and heart and aortic tissues were determined using the standard assay kits, xanthine oxidase method, and ELISA, respectively.

Efficacy comparison of icotinib and pemetrexed in the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma and the effects on the prognostic survival rate of patients were investigated. A retrospective analysis was performed in 132 lung adenocarcinoma patients who were treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Weifang Medical University from July 2010 to July 2015. Among them, 69 patients were treated with icotinib (icotinib group), and 63 patients were treated with pemetrexed (pemetrexed group).

To evaluate the long-term biological and clinical results of anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion (ACCF) with a synthesized nano-graphene oxide (nano-GO) loaded hydroxyapatite/polyamide (HAp/PA) strut in the implantation treatment of cervical reconstruction. Bio-ceramic Hydroxyapatite (HAp) combined with suitable polymer matrix is one of the furthermost naturally occurring biomaterial form for hard tissues and dental regeneration therapies due to their bone-like chemical compositional structure and biocompatibility similarity to native bone of the human body. In the present investigation, the development of nano-GO loaded HAp/PA composite strut for anterior cervical reform and fusion properties after corpectomy is studied.

The present study aimed to screen potential biomarkers for uterine leiomyomas disease, particularly target genes associated with the mediator of RNA polymerase II transcription subunit 12 (MED12) mutation. The microarray data of GSE30673, including 10 MED12 wild-type myometrium, 8 MED12 mutation leiomyoma and 2 MED12 wild-type leiomyoma samples, were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. Compared with myometrium samples, differently-expressed genes (DEGs) in the MED12 mutation and wild-type leiomyoma samples were identified using the Limma package.

Remote cerebellar hemorrhage (RCH) is a rare and severe complication after supratentorial surgery, with various risk factors and mechanisms remaining uncertain. Herein, we report a 64-year-old female patient suffered bilateral RCH following surgical clipping a ruptured aneurysm of internal carotid artery bifurcation. RCH is considered as venous in origin, and is likely the result of intra-operative or post-operative loss of CSF.

Apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1-interacting (ASK1-interacting) protein-1 (AIP1) is a newly identified novel member of the Ras GTPase-activating protein family, which has been implicated in cell growth inhibition and cell apoptosis. However, the effects of AIP1 in Alzheimer's disease (AD) are unknown. In the present study, we found that AIP1 was elevated in the brain of AD Tg2576 mice and Aβ1-42 treated brain cerebral microvascular endothelial cells (CECs).
