Background: The association between serum uric acid (SUA) and dyslipidaemia is still unclear in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aimed to examine the association between SUA and dyslipidaemia and to explore whether there is an optimal SUA level corresponding to the lower risk of suffering from dyslipidaemia.
Research Design And Methods: This cross-sectional study included 1036 inpatients with T2DM and the clinical data were extracted from the hospital medical records.

Patients with localized scleroderma on the face typically exhibit asymmetrical linear or patchy skin lesions and indentations on areas such as the scalp and forehead, with a smooth, waxy surface. In the early stages, medication is used to control the progression of the disease. In later stages, plastic surgery is performed to repair facial skin lesions.

Cells have the capability to discharge extracellular vesicles (EVs) into a range of bodily fluids. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) encapsulate biological molecules such as proteins and nucleic acids, playing a role in facilitating cell-cell communication. They actively engage in a myriad of physiological and pathological processes.

Background: It is well-known that Dendritic cells (DCs) are essential in the development of airway Th2 polarization and airway allergy (AA). The underlying mechanism is still not fully understood. The objective of this study is to examine the role of methyltransferase-like protein-5 (Mettl5), a methyltransferase involved in N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation, in altering DC's properties to facilitate the development of Th2 polarization and AA.

Rational modification of natural products plays a key role in drug discovery. Herein, a series of steroidal indole derivatives containing various substituents and steroidal skeletons were designed and synthesized with classical Fischer indole synthesis as a key step in an efficient synthetic route for the first time. The in vitro antibacterial activity of all the synthesized derivatives was evaluated against four Gram-positive strains including three Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the repair effect of siRNA-mediated double silencing of the mechanically sensitive ion channels Piezo1 and TRPV4 proteins on a rat model of osteoarthritis.
Methods: Piezo1 and TRPV4 interference plasmids were constructed using siRNA technology. Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were divided into four groups: the model group, siRNA-Piezo1, siRNA-TRPV4, and double gene silencing groups.

Periodontitis and diabetes mellitus are two prevalent chronic diseases that have been recognized to exhibit a bidirectional relationship. Individuals with diabetes are more susceptible to periodontitis, and conversely, periodontitis can exacerbate glycemic control in diabetic patients. The underlying mechanisms of this interrelationship involve complex pathways, including inflammatory responses, altered immune functions, and microbial dysbiosis.

Background: COVID-19 remains widespread and poses a threat to people's physical and mental health, especially middle-aged and elderly individuals. Early identification of COVID-19 patients at high risk of progressing to critical disease helps improve overall patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency.
Purpose: To develop a radiomics nomogram to predict the risk of newly admitted middle-aged and elderly COVID-19 patients progressing to critical disease.

Background: Breast cancer brain metastasis (BCBM) prognosis has not been evaluated dynamically, which may underestimate patient survival. This study aimed to perform a conditional survival (CS) analysis and develop and validate an individualized real-time prognostic monitoring model for survivors.
Methods: The study included patients with BCBM from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (training group, n = 998) and our institution (validation group, n = 45) and updated patient overall survival (OS) over time using the CS method: CS(t2|t1)=OS(t1+t2)OS(t1).

Background: Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) are currently 2 major diagnostic biomarkers for gastric cancer (GC). The aims of study were to detect the expression of long intergenic nonprotein coding RNA 1133 (LINC01133), and to evaluate its diagnostic and prognostic value in GC. Furthermore, the clinical performance of the joint detection of LINC01133, CEA and CA19-9 was also evaluate in GC.

Background: Disease-free survival (DFS) is an essential indicator for evaluating the prognosis of liver transplantation (LT) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Despite progress in the prediction of DFS by radiomics, only preoperative clinical features have been combined in most studies. The aim of this study was to construct a nomogram model (NM) using preoperative clinical features, radiomics, and postoperative pathological indicators for more effective prediction of DFS.

SCARF1 (scavenger receptor class F member 1, SREC-1 or SR-F1) is a type I transmembrane protein that recognizes multiple endogenous and exogenous ligands such as modified low-density lipoproteins (LDLs) and is important for maintaining homeostasis and immunity. But the structural information and the mechanisms of ligand recognition of SCARF1 are largely unavailable. Here, we solve the crystal structures of the N-terminal fragments of human SCARF1, which show that SCARF1 forms homodimers and its epidermal growth factor (EGF)-like domains adopt a long-curved conformation.

This study aims to investigate the effects of astragalus polysaccharide (APS) on diabetic retinopathy through the SHH-Gli1-AQP1 pathway. The anti-type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) targets of APS were identified through comprehensive searches of drug and disease-related databases. A protein-protein interaction network was then constructed, followed by GO and KEGG enrichment analyses.

The effect of low-dose ionizing radiation exposure on the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) represents a significant concern in the field of radiation protection. The prevailing approach to mitigating the adverse effects of low-dose or low-dose-rate radiation does not currently incorporate the potential risk of CVD, despite the possibility that such risk may be a substantial contributor to overall health hazards. Current evidence suggests a potential association between radiation exposure and CVD; however, the overall findings remain inconclusive.
