Neutropenic enterocolitis (NE) is a rare and life-threatening condition that typically occurs in patients with hematologic malignancies undergoing intensive chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or bone marrow transplant regimens, predisposing them to profound neutropenia. NE can have a nonspecific clinical presentation and mimic other gastrointestinal disorders such as appendicitis, diverticulitis, or inflammatory bowel disease but is associated with very high morbidity and mortality if not diagnosed and treated promptly. We present the case of a middle-aged female with a recent diagnosis of follicular lymphoma who developed neutropenic enterocolitis after undergoing induction chemotherapy for an autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT).

This study evaluated the quality and accessibility of the websites of the Spinal Cord Injury Medicine (SCIM) fellowship programs to identify potential areas for improvement for future applicants. Twenty-four SCIM fellowship program websites were analyzed based on 44 predetermined criteria: website accessibility, education, research, recruitment, and incentives. This study found that many evaluated websites needed more information on didactics, educational resources, evaluation criteria, call requirements, schedules, and expected caseloads, which could lead to an incomplete understanding of the fellowship program.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is the standard of care for patients with severe aortic valve stenosis (AS). However, evidence on its safety in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is limited.
Methods: The Nationwide Readmissions Database (NRD) from 2015 to 2019 was queried to identify patients undergoing TAVI in ESRD versus patients with no ESRD.
Whereas policy change is often characterized as a gradual and incremental process, effective crisis response necessitates that organizations adapt to evolving problems in near real time. Nowhere is this dynamic more evident than in the case of COVID-19, which forced subnational governments to constantly adjust and recalibrate public health and disease mitigation measures in the face of changing patterns of viral transmission and the emergence of new information. This study assesses (a) the extent to which subnational policies changed over the course of the pandemic; (b) whether these changes are emblematic of policy learning; and (c) the drivers of these changes, namely changing political and public health conditions.

Infection of a single joint space is a cause for concern, and infection of multiple joints is even more rare and concerning. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) renders patients particularly susceptible to encapsulated bacteria as it compromises opsonization, humoral immunity, as well as neutrophil function.

Due to systemic and structural inequities, the COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately impacts the Black community, along with ongoing anti-Black racism and violence. Violence against women in the home, particularly Black women, was prevalent during shelter in place, along with the additional family responsibilities of Black mothers. Crenshaw's theory of intersectionality (1991) provides a foundation for examining Black mothers' experiences during shelter-in-place mandates.
