Introduction: Chronic nonhealing wounds pose a serious concern for patient health and the health care system. Management of chronic wounds becomes especially challenging in the setting of systemic comorbidities and patient nonadherence.

Objective: Authors evaluated the performance of a proprietary adaptive self-assembling barrier scaffold (aSABS) in the management and healing of complex chronic wounds.

Introduction: The 24-hour bladder diary is considered to be the gold standard for evaluating maximum voided volume (MVV). However, we observed that patients often have a greater MVV during office uroflowmetry than that seen in the bladder diary. The purpose of this study is to compare these two non-invasive methods by which MVV can be determined - at the time of uroflowmetry (Q-MVV), or by 24hour bladder diary (BD-MVV).

Aggressive natural killer cell leukemia (ANKL) is a systemic NK-cell neoplasm, almost always associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Rare cases of EBV-negative ANKL have been described, and some reports suggested more indolent behavior. We report the clinicopathologic, immunophenotypic, and molecular characteristics of 7 EBV-negative ANKL.

Methods in leukocyte cytochemistry.

Department of Pathology, Wayne Memorial Hospital, Jesup, GA.

During the development and maturation of hematopoetic precursors, certain enzymes and associated substances, such as glycogen, are produced in the developing cells (1,2), which, if detected, can provide important clues to the lineage and classification of leukemias. Although the evaluation of abnormal populations of white blood cells has been greatly refined by the use of immunohistochemistry, flow-cytometric analysis (3), and molecular studies, cytochemistry still plays an important role in the assessment of the abnormal marrow and peripheral blood smear. Cytochemical studies, therefore, still have a role to play in the evaluation of leukemias and other hematological diseases see Fig.

Objective: Two means of delivering artificial ventilation readily available to out-of-hospital personnel are the bag-valve (BV) and the O2-powered demand-valve (OPDV). However, use of the OPDV has been limited because of concerns that it may worsen an underlying pneumothorax. This study compared the changes in size of pneumothorax in swine ventilated with the 2 devices.
