Background: With recent advances in partial knee arthroplasty, there is conflicting data regarding the outcomes and revision rates for bicompartmental knee arthroplasty (BKA) and unicompartamental knee arthroplasty (UKA) compared to total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This study uses national data to compare surgical and medical complications of UKA, BKA, and TKA to aid surgical decision-making.
Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis was done using the Mariner dataset of the PearlDiver patient records database from 2010-2019.

Background: Demographic differences among surgical trainees regarding intrapersonal traits, such as imposter syndrome and assertiveness, have become widely acknowledged. However, many of these characteristics have not been examined in tandem, nor among both trainees and surgeons in practice. This study aimed to address these knowledge gaps.

Background: Surgical candidates for periacetabular osteotomy are commonly women of reproductive age with symptomatic acetabular dysplasia. However, little is known about how this surgical intervention contributes to the decision to become pregnant, obstetrical counseling regarding delivery, mode of delivery, or pregnancy-related complications.
Questions/purposes: (1) Does a history of periacetabular osteotomy affect a patient's decision to become pregnant or does it affect obstetrical counseling regarding the safety of pregnancy and childbirth? (2) Is history of periacetabular osteotomy associated with in an increased risk of undergoing cesarean section compared with the national average? (3) Is a history of periacetabular osteotomy associated with increased complications, decreased infant birth weight, preterm delivery?
Methods: In conjunction with obstetrician colleagues, we created a survey to investigate patient attitudes toward pregnancy, mode of delivery, pregnancy-related complications, and obstetrical counseling among female patients who previously underwent periacetabular osteotomy.

Background/rationale: Image-guided needle biopsies are commonly used to diagnose musculoskeletal tumors, but nondiagnostic (ND) results can delay diagnosis and treatment. It is important to understand which factors or diagnoses predispose to a ND result so that appropriate patient education or a possible change in the clinical plan can be made. Currently it is unclear which factors or specific lesions are more likely to lead to a ND result after image-guided needle biopsy.

Background: Very little information is available regarding the incidence, causative mechanisms, and expected duration of time lost following upper extremity injuries in professional American football players.
Hypotheses: (1) Upper extremity injuries in professional American football players are a common cause of missed time from practice and game participation. (2) The effect of upper extremity injuries differs as a function of the site involved and the athlete's position.

Meniscal transplantation has become an accepted treatment option for selected symptomatic patients who have undergone a complete or near-complete meniscectomy. Basic and preliminary clinical studies suggest a meniscal allograft may replicate (though not completely) the shock-absorbing function of the normal meniscus to alleviate pain and provide measurable improvement in knee function. However, there is limited information on which to base crucial clinical decisions in treating the meniscectomized patient.
