The aim of the study is to determine the levels of E-cadherin, vimentin expression in tumor tissues from patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), and the relationship between the expression of E-cadherin, vimentin and epithelial-mesenchymal transition, in order to explore its values for predicting the invasion and metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinoma, short survival of patients in many types of cancer. E-cadherin and vimentin expression of 10 benign and 42 OSCC tumor tissues was examined by immunohistochemical staining. E-cadherin is positively expressed in normal oral mucosa epithelium, but vimentin expression is not found in normal oral mucosa epithelia; the E-cadherin and vimentin were expressed in 26 of 42 (61.

Allergic asthma is associated with the major house dust mite group 1 allergens Der p 1 and Der f 1, which belongs to the papin-like protease family and is the most potent of indoor allergens and allergen-specific immunotherapy (SIT), is seen as effective intervention for the entity. The current study was designed to verify the SIT efficacies of the enzymatic hydrolysates (papain and trypsin) in mice with asthma. We initially developed the asthmatic mouse models with ProDer f 1, and respectively applied recombinant ProDer f 1 protein and the two kinds of enzymatic hydrolysates for SIT.

The efferent projections of septal nuclei from the brain areas relating to pain in the rat were studied with WGA-HRP and HRP methods. The results are obtained as follows: The septal areas project widely to some brain areas relating to pain, for instance, locus coeruleus, raphe nuclei, periaqueductal gray, thalamus, hypothalamus, habenular, amygdaloid complex, cingulate cortex and hippocampus ets, but the projections of medial septal nucleus, lateral septal nucleus and diagonal band nucleus are different. It is possible that these fiber projections are one of the morphological basis of septal nuclei for regulating pain.
