Although Cisplatin (DDP) is a widely used first-line chemotherapy medication, DDP resistance is one of the main causes of treatment failure in advanced lung cancer. Therefore, it is urgent to identify DDP sensitizers and investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms. Here we utilized DDP-resistant organoids established from tumor biopsies of patients with relapsed lung cancers.

Anti-Pectin Fouling Performance of Dopamine and (3-Aminopropy) Triethoxysilane-Coated PVDF Ultrafiltration Membrane.

Membranes (Basel)

July 2022

Jiangsu Collaborative Innovation Center of Chinese Medicinal Resources Industrialization, Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, Nanjing 210023, China.

Due to the diversity and complexity of the components in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) extracts, serious membrane fouling has become an obstacle that limits the application of membrane technology in TCM. Pectin, a heteropolysaccharide widely existing in plant cells, is the main membrane-fouling substance in TCM extracts. In this study, a hydrophilic hybrid coating was constructed on the surface of a polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) ultrafiltration (UF) membrane co-deposited with polydopamine (pDA) and (3-Aminopropy) triethoxysilane (KH550) for pectin antifouling.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of cervical rotatory manipulation (CRM) on hemodynamics and plaque stability of atherosclerotic internal carotid artery (ICA) in rabbits.

Methods: Forty rabbits were randomly divided into 4 groups: (1) internal carotid atherosclerosis (ICAS) rabbits treated with CRM (ICAS-CRM group); (2) ICAS rabbits treated without CRM (ICAS group), (3) Normal-CRM group (normal rabbits treated with CRM), and (4) blank control group. In the ICAS-CRM group and ICAS group, the ICAS model was induced by ICA balloon injury combined with a high-fat diet for 12 weeks.

Sympathetic nerve remodeling after myocardial infarction (MI) has an indispensable role in cardiac remodeling. Numerous works have shown that sympathetic nerve remodeling can be delayed by inhibition of inflammatory response. Earlier studies have shown improvement in ventricular remodeling and inhibited chronic stage neural remodeling by Yiqi Huoxue decoction (YQHX).

Halofuginone Sensitizes Lung Cancer Organoids to Cisplatin Suppressing PI3K/AKT and MAPK Signaling Pathways.

Front Cell Dev Biol

November 2021

Department of Thoracic Surgery, Beijing Chest Hospital, Beijing Tuberculosis and Thoracic Tumor Research Institute, Capital Medical University, Beijing, China.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Cisplatin is the major DNA-damaging anticancer drug that cross-links the DNA in cancer cells, but many patients inevitably develop resistance with treatment. Identification of a cisplatin sensitizer might postpone or even reverse the development of cisplatin resistance.
