A suitable device for cystic lesions close to the tooth-bearing areas of the jaws.

J Oral Maxillofac Surg

January 2014

Full Professor, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Walter Cantídio University Hospital, Federal University of Ceará, Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.

Although there are no rigorous rules for choosing a particular design or method, the choice depends on situational needs. Although minor, most techniques are associated with certain difficulties and complications, such as the need for long-term monitoring, inappropriate decompression tube size, soft tissue trauma, suture dehiscence, soft tissue invagination, dislodgement, and malpositioning of the tube into the lesion.

A paraneoplastic syndrome is defined as a group of symptoms that develop when substances released by some cancer cells disrupt the normal function of the surrounding cells and tissue. Paraneoplastic renal syndromes are diseases that indirectly compromise tubular and glomerular function by electrolyte imbalance, hormone-producing tumors or deposition of antigen-antibody complexes in the glomeruli. In order to describe the most common paraneoplastic syndromes, which may compromise the renal function, an extensive review was performed of papers, including case reports, guidelines, meta-analysis and other scientific publications.
