The pronounced topographical differences, giving rise to numerous water bodies, also endow these formations with substantial hydraulic gradients, leading to pronounced groundwater discharge within their low-lying, natural reservoir settings. However, the dynamics of groundwater discharge in reservoirs and their impact on greenhouse gas (GHG) production and emission under different conditions remain unclear. Multienvironment genomic prediction was applied to tetraploid potato using 147 potato varieties, tested for 2 years, in 3 locations representative of 3 distinct regions in Europe. Different prediction scenarios were investigated to help breeders predict genotypic performance in the regions from one year to the next, for genotypes that were tested this year (scenario 1), as well as new genotypes (scenario 3). In scenario 2, we predicted new genotypes for any one of the 6 trials, using all the information that is available.

Introduction: Care Sport Connectors (CSCs) have been appointed to create a connection between the primary care and physical activity (PA) sectors to stimulate residents who are inactive to become more physically active to gain health benefits. For the determination of the binding of heated cow's milk whey proteins such as β-lactoglobulin to the receptors expressed on immune cells, inhibition ELISA with the soluble form of the receptor for advanced glycation end products (sRAGE) and scavenger receptor class B (CD36) has been successfully used in the past. However, binding to heated and glycated caseins in this read-out system has not been tested. In this study, inhibition ELISA was applied to measure the binding of cow's milk casein alone, as well as all milk proteins together, which underwent differential heat treatment, to sRAGE and CD36, and we compared those results to a dot blot read out.

The variation in lipidome of house cricket, banded cricket, Jamaican field cricket and two-spotted cricket was studied using high-throughput screening techniques for fingerprinting (MALDI TOF MS, GC-MS and LC MS-MS) and well-stablished chromatographic techniques for quantification (HPLC-ELSD, GC- FID). Although the four cricket species were reared in identical conditions, two-spotted & banded crickets had a lipid content 1.5 fold higher than house cricket.

Immune-globulin E (IgE)-mediated food allergy is characterized by a variety of clinical entities within the gastrointestinal tract, skin and lungs, and systemically as anaphylaxis. The default response to food antigens, which is antigen specific immune tolerance, requires exposure to the antigen and is already initiated during pregnancy. After birth, tolerance is mostly acquired in the gut after oral ingestion of dietary proteins, whilst exposure to these same proteins via the skin, especially when it is inflamed and has a disrupted barrier, can lead to allergic sensitization.
