Migrant populations - including labour migrants, undocumented migrants, asylum seekers, refugees, internationally displaced persons, and other populations on the move - are exposed to a variety of stressors that affect their mental health. We designed and tested the effectiveness of a stepped-care programme consisting of two scalable psychological interventions developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and locally adapted for migrant populations. A parallel-group randomized controlled trial was conducted in Italy.

Objective: Opisthorchis viverrini and cholangiocarcinoma have been recognised by the World Health Organisation as critical public health concerns, particularly in northeastern Thailand, where Opisthorchis viverrini is a significant cause of cholangiocarcinoma. This study examines the factors influencing Opisthorchis viverrini and cholangiocarcinoma prevention within the One Health framework in Kanthararom District, Sisaket Province, Thailand.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 327 residents aged 20 and above, utilising a structured questionnaire to assess knowledge, attitudes, perceived self-efficacy and prevention behaviours.
Background: Pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs) that are ten-valent (PCV10) and 13-valent (PCV13) became available in 2010. We evaluated their global impact on invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) incidence in all ages.
Methods: Serotype-specific IPD cases and population denominators were obtained directly from surveillance sites using PCV10 or PCV13 in their national immunisation programmes and with a primary series uptake of at least 50%.

Background: Migrant populations are at increased risk of developing mental health problems. We aimed to compare the efficacy and acceptability of psychosocial interventions in this population.
Methods: We conducted a systematic review and network meta-analysis (NMA).

Background: Epidemiologically important food-borne trematodes Opisthorchis viverrini and Clonorchis sinensis are recognized as biological carcinogens of Group 1A, while Opisthorchis felineus is in Group 3 as noncarcinogenic to humans. Mechanisms of the biological carcinogenesis are still elusive. Some studies highlight chronic inflammation as a key factor and common pathway for cancer initiation and progression.

Aims: It is widely recognized that the COVID-19 pandemic exerted an impact on the mental health of the general population, but epidemiological evidence is surprisingly sparse. We aimed to explore the association between serologically confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and psychological distress - assessed by symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress - in the general adult population in southern Switzerland, a region widely affected by the pandemic. We also investigated whether this association varied over time and between pandemic waves from late 2020 through 2021.

Background: Available empirical evidence on participant-level factors associated with dropout from psychotherapies for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is both limited and inconclusive. More comprehensive understanding of the various factors that contribute to study dropout from cognitive-behavioural therapy with a trauma focus (CBT-TF) is crucial for enhancing treatment outcomes.
Objective: Using an individual participant data meta-analysis (IPD-MA) design, we examined participant-level predictors of study dropout from CBT-TF interventions for PTSD.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, an organisational framework was established between academic, local government and community partners to implement the "Sentinella - Identify, Trace and Prevent" screening programme in Verona, north-east Italy. Between September 2020 and May 2021, key populations not covered by any screening policies at the local and national level were screened for SARS-CoV-2. Target populations were: older adult residents (males >65 years and females >75 years), bus and taxi drivers, social workers, supermarket employees, hospital cleaning and catering staff, researchers working in the local hospitals, students, and people experiencing homelessness (PEH).

Neuroactive steroids including allopregnanolone are implicated in the pathophysiology of peripartum depressive symptoms (PDS). We performed a systematic review searching PubMed/Embase/PsychInfo/Cinhail through 08/2023 (updated in 07/2024), and conducted a random-effects meta-analysis of studies comparing allopregnanolone blood concentrations in women with versus without PDS at various timepoints during the 2 and 3 trimester and the postpartum period, calculating standardized mean differences (SMDs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Meta-regression and subgroup analyses included age, diagnoses of affective disorders before pregnancy, antidepressant treatment, analytical methods, and sample type.

Foodborne diseases, especially those caused by zoonotic agents, pose a significant threat to human health. Food business operators are therefore responsible for producing safe food. To do this, they must regularly carry out appropriate sample investigations to detect zoonotic agents in their food before it leaves the factory.

Objective: Interprofessional education (IPE) can cultivate competencies in multidisciplinary collaboration for patient safety, and both face-to-face and online IPE programs have recently been introduced. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of the online IPE program on undergraduate students after the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
Methods: The difference-in-differences method was used to assess undergraduate students in the Schools of Medicine and Health Sciences and in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Takasaki University of Health and Welfare who participated in IPE programs at Gunma University (face-to-face IPE was implemented in 2019 and online IPE in 2020).

Background: Nurses form the frontline of the healthcare system's response to both epidemics and pandemics, and this was especially the case during the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Although the influence of COVID-19 on nursing roles has attracted interest, there is no integrated knowledge of nurses' roles and experiences in primary health care settings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, this study identifies the roles and experiences of nurses in primary health care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Two physical treatments (heat via water bath and cold air) with various temperatures (20/70/75/80°C and - 80/-90°C) and exposure times (20, 30, 40 s) were carried out to identify a decontaminating effect on zoonotic pathogens on broiler carcasses. Subsequently, carcasses were analyzed for thermotolerant , , and total colony count (TCC). Moreover, for the hot water treatment, qPCR with viable/dead differentiation (v-qPCR) was applied to detect viable but non-culturable cells (VBNC) of referred to as intact but putatively infectious units (IPIU).

Background: Autonomy is one of the key ethical principles enshrined in Part II of the Nigerian National Health Act 2014. To ensure compliance with this principle, it is pertinent that Health Care Professionals (HCPs) understand and know what it entails to ensure that patients are empowered to pursue their decisional autonomy. This survey seeks to explore what HCPs consider as relevant for empowering patients to exercise decisional autonomy, in line with the Nigerian Health Act.
