The second mesiobuccal canal in three-rooted maxillary first molar of Karnataka Indian sub-populations: A cone-beam computed tomography study.

Introduction: Elusive second mesiobuccal canal (MB2) in maxillary first molar are often missed during endodontic therapy and are a major cause of treatment failures. Its prevalence is known to vary among different populations and there is limited information on its prevalence in Indian population.

Aim: This study investigated the prevalence and location of second mesiobuccal (MB2) canal in mesiobuccal root of maxillary first molar using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images in an Indian population.

An immunohistochemical study of p53 expressions in oral submucous fibrosis.

Background: The objective of this histopathological study was to identify the expression of tumor suppressor gene p53 and to detect the correlation between p53 expression and the degree of dysplasia in oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF).

Methods: A sample size of 30 OSMF patients irrespective of sex was taken up for the study. The tissue samples obtained were subjected to immunohistochemical method to detect p53 protein.

The desensitizer paste Teethmate AP (TAP) contains tetracalcium phosphate and dicalcium phosphate anhydrous in glycerol and polyethylene glycol, whereas placebo (PLA) is a calcium phosphate free analog.

Serratiopeptidase is a proteolytic enzyme that has been used for reducing inflammation, it has antiedemic, analgesic, fibrinolytic and caesinolytic properties. Serratiopeptidase is often used in oral surgery for its anti-inflammatory purpose after impaction surgery, maxillofacial trauma and infections but its use should be limited in cases of abscess due to its fibrinolytic activity. Here, we report a case of a buccal space abscess which had spread into deeper muscular layers after serratiopeptidase administration in a 32-year-old male without any systemic condition.
