Objective: This study was conducted to present the long-term functional outcomes of injection laryngoplasty (IL) with hyaluronic acid/dextranomer (HA/D) in unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP).
Methods: A total of 40 patients who underwent HA/D injection for UVFP were enrolled. The acoustic analysis of the voice was evaluated with jitter percentage, shimmer percentage, maximum phonation time, harmonics-to-noise ratio, and fundamental frequency.

Purpose: Arytenoid adduction as an addition to medialisation thyroplasty is highly advocated by some surgeons in selected cases but deemed less necessary by others in patients with unilateral vocal fold paralysis. This study aims to evaluate the additional benefits on voice outcome of arytenoid adduction in patients with unilateral vocal fold paralysis undergoing medialisation thyroplasty using intra-operative voice measurements.

Subject-specific computational modeling of vocal fold (VF) vibration was integrated with an ex vivo animal experiment of type 1 thyroplasty to study the effect of the implant on the vocal fold vibration. In the experiment, a rabbit larynx was used to simulate type 1 thyroplasty, where one side of the vocal fold was medialized with a trans-muscular suture while the other side was medialized with a silastic implant. Vocal fold vibration was then achieved by flowing air through the larynx and was filmed with a high-speed camera.

Type 1 Arnold Chiari is a neurological malformation that may be associated with vocal cord paralysis in Children. In most cases, the vocal cord paralysis is related to protrusion of medulla and cerebellum in the foramen magnum, which led to compression on the vagus nerve. Paralyzed VFs typically experience synkinetic reinnervation, which makes it feasible to elicit movement through electrical stimulation. The present study applied LUS and quantitative laryngeal electromyography (LEMG) in female UVFP patients to investigate the pathophysiologic mechanisms of UVFP.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, vocal fold (VF) length parameters included resting and phonating VF length measured using B-mode LUS, and color Doppler vibrating length (CDVL) measured using the color Doppler mode.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of aging on vocal function following laryngeal reinnervation combined with arytenoid adduction (AA) in the treatment of paralytic dysphonia.
Methods: Sixty-eight patients with unilateral vocal fold paralysis who underwent refined nerve-muscle pedicle flap (NMP) implantation and AA were classified into four groups according to age: under 50 years (-50), in their 50s, 60s, and 70 years and older (70+). These groups consisted of 15, 14, 22, and 17 patients, respectively.
