We recently reported a standardized xeno- and serum-free culture platform to isolate and expand umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (UC-MSCs). Comparing populations from the same passage, cells that were cryopreserved and culture-rescued exhibited characteristics similar to those of their fresh counterparts, continuously cultured cells without interim cryopreservation. The culture rescue after thawing allowed for the cells to be fully recovered.

We have established the original footprint-free Vietnamese human induced pluripotent stem cell line, VRISGi001-A, from cord-blood derived CD34 + hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) of a 35 year old healthy woman under cGMP-compliant process. For the hiPSC induction, three Sendai virus vectors carrying four reprogramming factors including c-MYC, SOX2, KLF4, and OCT3/4 were delivered into CD34 HSCs. The VRISGi001-A cell line expresses the majority of the pluripotent markers and differentiate in vitro into derivatives of three germ layers.

Anoxic brain injury (ABI) due to non-fatal drowning may cause persistent vegetative state (VS) that is currently incurable. The aim of this paper is to present the safety and feasibility of autologous bone marrow-derived mononuclear cell (BMMNC) transplantation in five drowning children surviving in persistent VS. We used BMMNC as a novel candidate therapeutic tool in a pilot phase-I study for five patients affected by neurological sequelae after near-death drowning.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of autologous bone marrow mononuclear cell transplantation combined with educational intervention for children with autism spectrum disorder. An open-label clinical trial was performed from July 2017 to August 2019 at Vinmec International Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam. Exosomes are nano-scale and closed membrane vesicles which are promising for therapeutic applications due to exosome-enclosed therapeutic molecules such as DNA, small RNAs, proteins and lipids. Recently, it has been demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes have capacity to regulate many biological events associated with wound healing process, such as cell proliferation, cell migration and blood vessel formation. The Immune Deficiency (IMD) pathway in Drosophila melanogaster is activated upon microbial challenge with Gram-negative bacteria to trigger the innate immune response. In order to decipher this nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) signaling pathway, we undertook an in vitro RNAi screen targeting E3 ubiquitin ligases specifically and identified the HECT-type E3 ubiquitin ligase Hyperplastic discs (Hyd) as a new actor in the IMD pathway. Hyd mediated Lys63 (K63)-linked polyubiquitination of the NF-κB cofactor Akirin was required for efficient binding of Akirin to the NF-κB transcription factor Relish.
