Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess clinical presentation, endoscopic findings, antibiotic susceptibility and treatment success of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infected pediatric patients.

Methods: Between 2013 and 2016, 23 pediatric hospitals from 17 countries prospectively submitted data on consecutive H.

Prognostic value of myocardial fibrosis in severe aortic stenosis: study protocol for a prospective observational multi-center study (FIB-AS).

Background: Adverse cardiac remodeling with a myocardial fibrosis as a key pathophysiologic component may be associated to worse survival in aortic stenosis (AS) patients. Therefore, with the application of advanced cardiac imaging we aim to investigate left ventricular myocardial fibrosis in severe AS patients undergoing aortic valve replacement (AVR) and determine its impact with post-intervention clinical outcomes.

Methods: In a prospective, observational, cohort study patients with severe AS scheduled either for surgical or transcatheter AVR will be recruited from two tertiary heart centers in Denmark and Lithuania.

Skin cryptococcosis in an immunocompromised renal-transplant recipient.

Immunosuppression after solid-organ transplantation can lead to opportunistic infections as cryptococcosis. A 69-year-old female, cadaveric renal-transplant recipient, manifested with ulcerative lesions on the 7th month of immunosuppression. Histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of cryptococcosis.

Pediatric Community-Acquired Bone and Joint Staphylococcus Aureus Infections In Europe: Severe Infections are Associated to Panton-Valentine Leucocidin Presence.

To analyze host and pathogen factors related to disease severity of community-acquired bone and joint infections in children, a cohort of pediatric patients was prospectively recruited from 13 centers in 7 European countries. A total of 85 children were included, 11 (13%) had a severe infection. Panton-Valentine leukocidin-positive isolates were 17%, and 6% of the isolates were methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

Background Acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation is a common injury among young and physically active persons. Evaluating surgical outcomes clinically and radiographically is widely accepted, but it is not known which clinical tests or radiological indicators are the most important. Aerosol particle number (PNC) and mass concentrations (PMC) were studied in 11 primary schools during the 2017-2018 school years (from September to May) in Vilnius, Lithuania, with the aim to evaluate the main aerosol pollution sources and its levels. Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate facial nerve (FN) branching variations based on Davis and Kopuz classifications in the Lithuanian population and measure the shortest distance from the facial nerve trunk (FNT) to its anatomical landmarks. Vaccine confidence among parents: Large scale study in eighteen European countries.

Background: Despite the fact that vaccines save 2-3 million lives worldwide every year, a percentage of children are not getting appropriately vaccinated, thus leading to disease outbreaks. One of the major reasons of low vaccine uptake in Europe is vaccine hesitancy, contributing to the recent measles outbreaks. Monitoring of vaccine hesitancy is valuable in early identification of vaccine concerns.

Transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis in aortic stenosis: Prevalence, diagnostic challenges, and clinical implications.

Transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis (ATTR-CA) is a challenging and underdiagnosed cause of heart failure. Advances in cardiac imaging have enabled noninvasive diagnosis of ATTR-CA, causing the recent upsurge in disease awareness and detection. ATTR-CA has been increasingly recognized in patients with degenerative aortic stenosis (AS).

Autosomal recessive hypercholesterolemia: Case report.

Introduction: Autosomal recessive hypercholesterolemia (ARH; OMIM #603813) is a very rare monogenic disorder affecting less than 1 in 1000,000 people and is characterized by very high levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), leading to aggressive and premature atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease if left untreated. Lowering of LDL-C is the main target of the treatment. We report on a 29-year-old male patient born in nonconsanguineous Lithuanian family homo(hemi-)zygous for LDLRAP1 gene variant causing ARH.

Prevalence and prognostic value of late gadolinium enhancement on CMR in aortic stenosis: meta-analysis.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and prognostic value of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE), as assessed by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging, in patients with aortic stenosis.

Methods And Results: A systematic search of PubMed and EMBASE was performed, and observational cohort studies that analysed the prevalence of LGE and its relation to clinical outcomes in patients with aortic stenosis were included. Odds ratios were used to measure an effect of the presence of LGE on both all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.
