Dermal substitutes offer a valuable tool in soft-tissue reconstruction, reducing the need for donor site tissue and its associated complications. However, conventional approaches often require multiple surgeries. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of a single-stage procedure combining dermal substitute and skin grafting with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy to the standard multistage protocol.

Background: Ataxia telangiectasia is a multisystem disorder with progressive neurodegeneration. Corticosteroids can improve neurological functioning in patients with the disorder but adrenal suppression and symptom recurrence on treatment discontinuation has limited their use, prompting the development of novel steroid delivery systems. The aim of the ATTeST study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of intra-erythrocyte delivery of dexamethasone sodium phosphate compared with placebo in children with ataxia telangiectasia.

A 59-year-old non-smoking male, with a known case of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), treated pulmonary tuberculosis with Category 1 antitubercular drugs (six-month regimen) and was admitted with repeated bouts of moderate haemoptysis (~60 mL/day) for three days. The patient had a history of self-limiting occasional mild haemoptysis (~20 mL) over three years. An HRCT chest revealed a left upper lobe fibro-cavitary lesion with an intracavitary mass (air crescent sign), adjacent pleural thickening and fibrosis.

Introduction: Complexity in healthcare systems has been arbitrarily defined as tasks or systems ranging from complicated to intractable, with a general view of these not being 'simple'. Complexity in healthcare systems in first-world countries has been well elucidated, however, data from third-world countries is still scant. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We present four cases each from three different organ systems-chronic kidney disease, alcohol use disorder, and heart failure-in the backdrop of our healthcare organization.

Background: Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) of lower extremities comprises a clinical spectrum that extends from asymptomatic patients to critical limb ischemia (CLI) patients. 10% to 40% of the patients are at the risk of primary amputation. This study was planned in "no-option" patients of CLI due to atherosclerotic PAD to assess the efficacy and safety of pooled, allogeneic, adult human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells which is already approved for marketing in India for CLI due to Buerger's disease.

Buerger's disease or thromboangiitis obliterans is a type of obstructive vascular diseases categorized as vasculitis and usually present in 95% of young smoker men. The main pathogenetic mechanism is interplay between immune system and inflammation. Earlier our phase II study has shown that Stempeucel is safe when injected at 2 million cells/kg body weight by virtue of its anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and angiogenetic properties.

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is an uncommon diagnosis in routine clinical practice. 21-hydroxylase deficiency, which is its most common subtype, may be diagnosed at birth in a female infant by virilisation or by features of salt wasting in both genders. However, other uncommon subtypes of this condition such as 17-alpha-hydroxylase deficiency, 11-beta-hydroxylase deficiency may present much later in adolescence or adulthood.

Background Aims: Previous clinical studies have reported that the injection of bone marrow (BM)-derived mononuclear cells (MNC) results in improvement in symptoms and healing of ulcers in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI) up to stage IV of Fontaine's classification. However, most patients with Fontaine stage IV CLI limbs had to undergo amputation even after stem cell therapy. We report on six patients, who had poorly controlled diabetes with extensive ulceration and gangrene of limbs because of Fontaine stage IV CLI and had been advised amputation elsewhere, who underwent injection of autologous BM MNC.
