Article Synopsis
  • - This study evaluated the effectiveness of three diagnostic tools—Risk of Ovarian Malignancy Algorithm (ROMA), Copenhagen Index (CPH-I), and Ovarian Adnexal Reporting and Data System (O-RADS)—for predicting ovarian cancer in patients with ovarian tumors.
  • - Conducted on 462 patients between May 2020 and December 2022, the research found that O-RADS combined with cancer markers like CA125 provided the most accurate predictions, demonstrating high sensitivity and specificity.
  • - The results indicated that while all models showed good predictive values, the combination of O-RADS with CA125 yielded the highest predictive accuracy for ovarian cancer detection.

Uterocervical angle and cervical length measurements for spontaneous preterm birth prediction in low-risk singleton pregnant women: a prospective cohort study.

Arch Gynecol Obstet

September 2024

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, 6 Ngo Quyen St., Hue, 491200, Vietnam.

Purpose: Preterm birth is the leading cause of early neonatal morbidity and mortality. Strategies to predict preterm birth risk can help improve pregnancy outcomes. Even pregnant women without known risk factors for preterm birth can also experience it.

Background: In clinical obstetrics, many guidelines recommended the use of Doppler fetal ductus venosus blood flow to monitor and to manage fetal growth restriction (FGR). The ductus venosus and the pulmonary venous flow pattern of fetuses are similar. Umbilical artery pH (UA pH) is essential in identifying adverse pregnancy outcomes, particularly in fetal growth restriction cases.

Distribution of uterocervical angles of pregnant women at 16 to 23 weeks gestation with low risk for preterm birth: first vietnamese cohort of women with singleton pregnancies.

BMC Pregnancy Childbirth

April 2023

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, 6 Ngo Quyen St., Hue 491200, Hue, Vietnam.

Article Synopsis
  • Cervical length (CL) and uterocervical angle (UCA) are both examined to predict the risk of spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB) in pregnant women between 16-23 weeks of gestation.
  • The study found that UCA significantly differs between preterm and full-term pregnancies, with UCA values being larger in those who delivered preterm.
  • A correlation was observed where a higher UCA (>95°) was associated with increased chances of preterm birth, suggesting its potential role as a predictive tool in prenatal care.

Antenatal dexamethasone use and respiratory distress in late preterm infants: results from first Vietnamese matched cohort study.

BMC Pregnancy Childbirth

August 2021

Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, Hue, 49120, Vietnam.

Background: Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is one of the leading causes of early neonatal morbidity and mortality in late preterm infants (LPIs) worldwide. This matched cohort study aimed to assess how the antenatal dexamethasone use affect the respiratory distress (RD) proportion in preterm newborns between 34 0/7 weeks and 36 6/7 weeks of gestation.

Methods: This was a prospective cohort study on 78 women with singleton pregnancy who were in threatened preterm birth and had not received prior dexamethasone, who were admitted between 34 0/7 weeks and 36 6/7 weeks at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital from June 2018 to May 2020.
