The synthesis of medicinally relevant -aryl-substituted 2-aminobenzothiazoles often uses 2-aminothiophenol derivatives, which are not commercially abundant, as starting materials. Herein, we report a method for the annulation of C3-substituted nitroarenes and aryl isothiocyanates towards the synthesis of 2-aminobenzothiazoles. Reactions proceeded in the presence of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles as a catalyst, DABCO as a base, and DMF as a promoter.

Molecular data from samples encompassing 22 nominal species of indicate that the species-level diversity in the genus has been vastly overestimated, likely due to inadequate taxon and geographic sampling and reliance on morphological characters that vary intra-specifically. The latter includes discrete mouth morphologies related to alternate feeding strategies (ecomorphs) within populations. One new species is described, Hoàng, Phạm & Trần, , and 17 synonyms of six valid species names of , , , , , , and , are recognised.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were loaded on deprotonated cellulose nanocrystals (CNCd) and incorporated into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) to develop novel active food packaging films. The AgNPs were fabricated using the liquid phase chemical reduction method using the sodium borohydride reductant of AgNO. The analysis using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) showed that the CNCd surface had a homogeneous distribution of AgNPs with a diameter of about 100 nm.

The adsorption of organic compounds onto metal surfaces holds significant importance across various applications, where understanding the intricate interactions between the compounds and the metal surfaces is indispensable. By using density functional theory calculations, this study investigated the impact of functional groups on the interaction between the thione form of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) and the Cu(111) surface. The results indicated that substituting functional groups at the C6 position exerts a dual influence on the covalent and non-covalent interactions (NCI).

The catalytic application of 3-(4-sulfobutyl)-1-imidazole-3-ium chloride immobilized on activated silica gel (SiO-Imi-SOH) for the production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural is described here for the first time. This material was synthesized using a three-step method involving the grafting of chloropropyl groups onto activated silica gel, the substitution of zwitterions, and the acidification of zwitterions to form silica-supported ionic liquid. The successful immobilization of the IL on silica gel was confirmed through energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and elemental mapping.

Anatomical airway labeling is crucial for precisely identifying airways displaying symptoms such as constriction, increased wall thickness, and modified branching patterns, facilitating the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary ailments. This study introduces an innovative airway labeling methodology, BranchLabelNet, which accounts for the fractal nature of airways and inherent hierarchical branch nomenclature. In developing this methodology, branch-related parameters, including position vectors, generation levels, branch lengths, areas, perimeters, and more, are extracted from a dataset of 1000 chest computed tomography (CT) images.
