The phytochemical composition of the leaves was studied for the first time. Two new triterpenoid saponins, named comtrifoside A () and comtrifoside B (), together with two other saponins () were purified by variously chromatographic techniques. For the first time, compound was informed from the genus, as well as all of the isolated compounds () were reported from .

In this study, we fabricated a composite of NiO-ZnO/PANI-CNTs on a fluorine tin oxide (FTO) electrode and examined the electrochemical sensing behavior of the modified electrode to detect methanol in aqueous solution. The structural, morphological, and electrochemical properties of the composite were characterized using various methods such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), EDS, FTIR, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), and electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry (CA). The composite-based electrode showed excellent electrocatalytic activity and selectivity for methanol oxidation.

Three carvotacetones (1 - 3: ) isolated from were screened in 60 cancer cell lines at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) within the Developmental Therapeutics Program (DTP). At the concentration of 10 M, compound 1: (3,5-diangeloyloxy-7-hydroxycarvotacetone) turned out to be the most active compound against ACHN and UO-31 renal cancer cell lines with growth percent values of - 100% (all cells dead). Compound 2: (3-angeloyloxy-5-[2″,3″-epoxy-2″-methylbutanoyloxy]-7-hydroxycarvotacetone) showed strong effects in SK-MEL-5 melanoma and ACHN renal cancer cells with inhibition values of 93% and 97%, respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • Graphene sheets were modified with nickel or copper oxides and polyaniline, creating new materials for detecting methanol through a straightforward electrochemical method.
  • * The sensors demonstrated strong electrocatalytic activity, with a dynamic range of 20-1300 mM for methanol and high sensitivity without interference from ethanol or other alcohols.
  • * This research presents an innovative and cost-effective alternative to traditional precious metal sensors for identifying methanol in potentially counterfeit alcoholic drinks.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most frequent malignancies and the fourth-leading cancer-related death worldwide. Most patients with HCC are diagnosed at a late stage in which curable therapies are limited. Thus, identifying biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognosis of HCC is essential for improving the treatment effectiveness in patients with HCC.

Via analysis of spatiotemporal arrangements of atoms based on their dynamics in supercooled liquid and glassy states of a 2D monatomic system with a double-well Lennard-Jones-Gauss (LJG) interaction potential, we find a new scenario of dynamical heterogeneity. Atoms with the same or very close mobility have a tendency to aggregate into clusters. The number of atoms with high mobility (and size of their clusters) increases with decreasing temperature passing over a maximum before decreasing down to zero.
