In Vietnam, diarrhea, especially persistent diarrhea, is one of the most common diseases in children, while a significant proportion of cases are negative with pathogens; thus, there is an urgent need to understand gut bacterial dysbiosis. In this study, bacteria in the fecal samples of five healthy and ten diarrheal children were separated from other residues, then adopted to extract their metagenomic DNA for evaluating their diversity based on V3 and V6-V8 regions and the 16S rRNA gene by PCR-RFLP and PCR-DGGE. As a result, bacterial metagenomic DNAs with high quality, quantity and diversity were successfully extracted using a GeneJET kit and a chemical protocol.

Multisystemic inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) might manifest in a broad spectrum of clinical scenarios, ranging from mild features to multi-organ dysfunction and mortality. However, this novel entity has a heterogenicity of data regarding prognostic factors associated with severe outcomes. The present study aimed to identify independent predictors for severity by using multivariate regression models.

Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) are a major cause of neonatal sepsis in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Although the World Health Organization (WHO) reports that over 80% of these sepsis deaths could be prevented through improved treatment, the efficacy of the currently recommended first- and second-line treatment regimens for this condition is increasingly affected by high rates of drug resistance. Here we assess three well known antibiotics, fosfomycin, flomoxef and amikacin, in combination as potential antibiotic treatment regimens by investigating the drug resistance and genetic profiles of commonly isolated GNB causing neonatal sepsis in LMICs.

Drug resistant epilepsy (DRE) is a major hurdle in epilepsy, which hinders clinical care, patients' management and treatment outcomes. DRE may partially result from genetic variants that alter proteins responsible for drug targets and drug transporters in the brain. We aimed to examine the relationship between , and polymorphism and drug response in epilepsy children in Vietnam.

Persistent diarrhea is a severe gastroenteric disease with relatively high risk of pediatric mortality in developing countries. We conducted a randomized, double-blind, controlled clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy of liquid-form Bacillus clausii spore probiotics (LiveSpo CLAUSY; 2 billion CFU/5 mL ampoule) at high dosages of 4-6 ampoules a day in supporting treatment of children with persistent diarrhea. Our findings showed that B.
