Presence of EGF ligand restricts the binding ability of EgB4 nanobody to EGFR extracellular domain.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Laboratory for Chemical Computation and Modeling, Institute for Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence, Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City, 70000, Vietnam.

EgB4 is a nanobody that could facilitate the development of drug-nanobody conjugates or drug delivery in cancer treatment due to its specific binding ability to the EGFR transmembrane protein. More significantly, EgB4 does not hamper the EGFR function and associates with EGFR in both the presence and absence of an EGF ligand. However, the difference in EgB4-EGFR interaction with and without EGF ligand is not clear.

This paper explores the perception of two diachronically related and mutually intelligible phonological oppositions, the onset voicing contrast of Northern Raglai and the register contrast of Southern Raglai. It is the continuation of a previous acoustic study that revealed that Northern Raglai onset stops maintain a voicing distinction accompanied by weak formant and voice quality modulations on following vowels, while Southern Raglai has transphonologized this voicing contrast into a register contrast marked by vowel and voice quality distinctions. Our findings indicate that the two dialects partially differ in their use of identification cues, Northern Raglai listeners using both voicing and F1 as major cues while Southern Raglai listeners largely focus on F1.

Chlorinated paraffins (CPs) are chemical additives mostly composed of polychlorinated alkanes (PCAs) which may impact on the environment and human health; however, little is known about their presence in Southeast Asia. To fill this knowledge gap, we assessed 74 PCA homolog groups commonly referred to as short-chain (SCCPs: PCAs-C), medium-chain (MCCPs: PCAs-C), and long-chain CPs (LCCPs: PCAs-C) in technical CP mixtures (n = 4) and polymer samples (n = 49), including recycled plastics, collected in Vietnam in 2023. The contents of measured PCA homolog groups in technical CP mixtures were 86,000-930,000 mg/kg for PCAs-C; 85,000-990,000 mg/kg for PCAs-C; and 23,000-180,000 mg/kg for PCAs-C.

Some novel sulphonyl thiourea derivatives (7a-m) containing 4,6-diarylpyrimidine rings were designed and synthesized using a one-pot procedure. These compounds exhibited remarkable dual inhibitory activity against human carbonic anhydrase CA I, CA II, CA IX, and XII isoenzymes and some cancer cell lines. Among them, some thioureas had significantly more potent inhibitory activities in the order of 7l > 7c > 7f (against the CA I isoform), 7f > 7b > 7c (against the CA II isoform), 7c > 7g > 7a > 7b (against the CA IX isoform), and 7d > 7c > 7g > 7f (against the CA XII isoform).

The field of medical image segmentation powered by deep learning has recently received substantial attention, with a significant focus on developing novel architectures and designing effective loss functions. Traditional loss functions, such as Dice loss and Cross-Entropy loss, predominantly rely on global metrics to compare predictions with labels. However, these global measures often struggle to address challenges such as occlusion and nonuni-form intensity.
