: During the acute phase of COVID-19, a number of immunological abnormalities have been reported, but few studies longitudinally analyzed the specific subsets of peripheral blood lymphocytes. : In this observational, prospective, and longitudinal study, adult patients developing acute pneumonia during the COVID-19 pandemic have been followed up for 12 months. Peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets were assessed (with a specific focus on the memory markers) at 6 time points after the disease onset until 12 months.

Orally administered sorafenib has shown limited improvement in overall survival for non-small-cell lung cancer patients, likely due to poor pharmacokinetics and adverse effects, including gastrointestinal toxicity. To address these issues, we developed silica-containing antioxidant nanoparticles (siRNP) as a carrier to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of lipophilic sorafenib. Sorafenib was loaded into siRNP via dialysis (sora@siRNP).

: Sitosterolemia is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by diverse clinical manifestations ranging from asymptomatic cases to the development of xanthomas, hypercholesterolemia, premature atherosclerosis, or even sudden death during childhood. It results from homozygous or compound heterozygous pathogenic variants in the or genes. Prompt detection and intervention are essential to managing this condition and preventing severe outcomes.

Increasing evidence indicates that human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) are important to human health and are an underexplored component of many diseases. Certain HERV families show unique expression patterns and immune responses in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) patients compared to healthy controls, suggesting their potential as biomarkers. Despite these interesting findings, the role of HERVs in ASD needs to be further investigated.

: Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease is an inherited peripheral neuropathy primarily involving motor and sensory neurons. Mutations in INF2, an actin assembly factor, cause two diseases: peripheral neuropathy CMT-DIE (MIM614455) and/or focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). These two phenotypes arise from the progressive degeneration affecting podocytes and Schwann cells.

Background: Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) due to 21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD CAH) is an autosomal recessive disorder resulting from pathogenic variants in the CYP21A2 gene. The disorder exhibits variable clinical severity, with the classical form manifesting as salt-wasting crisis in neonates, while inducing ambiguous genitalia in females and precocious puberty in males through simple virilization. Identifying at-risk couples during the preconception stage holds significance for optimizing reproductive choices.

Objectives: (1) To evaluate the potential of producing huperzine (Hup) and anticholinesterase (AChE) activities of nine native Lycopodiaceae species collected in Vietnam; (2) Isolation, identification and characterization of a novel fungus producing both HupA and HupB isolated from Lycopodium casuarinoides Spring.
Results: All methanolic extracts of nine plants showed AChE inhibition from 8.55 to 71.

This paper proposes an adaptive output feedback full state constrain (FSC) controller based on the adaptive neural disturbance observer (ANDO) for a nonlinear electro-hydraulic system (NEHS) with unmodeled dynamics. The Barrier Lyapunov Functions (BLFs) are utilized to ensure that all states of the system are specified within the constraints, and the approximation ability of radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) is used to cope with the unknown nonlinear functions. An adaptive neural compensation disturbance observer is elaborated to estimate the compound disturbance and oil leakage fault, effectively addressing these negative effects.

Obligatory parthenogenesis in vertebrates is restricted to squamate reptiles and evolved through hybridisation. Parthenogens can hybridise with sexual species, resulting in individuals with increased ploidy levels. We describe two successive hybridisations of the parthenogenetic butterfly lizards (genus Leiolepis) in Vietnam with a parental sexual species.

Three of them, (2S)-5,7-dihydroxy-6-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-8-(3-methylbut-2-en-1-yl)chroman-4-one (1), keampferol 3-O-[6-O-(E)-feruloyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl]-(1→2)-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), and (+)-13-homo-13-oxa-6a,12a-dehydrorotenone (3) were verified by Scifinder as previously undescribed compounds. Their chemical structures were elucidated by using IR, ECD, HR-ESI-MS, 1D and 2D NMR methods.

This paper proposes an innovative approach to address the challenges of dynamic balance and external disturbances in ballbot systems, overcoming the limitations of conventional Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers and their variants in handling highly nonlinear dynamics and external forces. Traditional PID controllers and their variants often have difficulty adapting to complex, real-time dynamic systems, leading to performance degradation under varying conditions. A nonlinear PID controller-based Takagi-Sugeno-Kang 3D Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller (TSK3DCMAC) is introduced to overcome these shortcomings.

Background: An increase in pandemics of zoonotic origin has led to a growing interest in using statistical prediction to identify hotspots of zoonotic emergence. However, the rare nature of pathogen emergence requires modellers to impose simplifying assumptions, which limit the model's validity. We present a novel approach to hotspot mapping that aims to improve validity by combining model-based insights with expert knowledge.

This review provides a comprehensive global overview of the occurrences, distribution, emissions, and associated risks of perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) in riverine systems across both developed and developing countries including the United States (US), Spain, France, Netherlands, Germany, Pakistan, China, Korea, Vietnam, Italy, and Japan. Data for this review were systematically gathered through a comprehensive and structured search process using various databases, search engines, and academic repositories to identify relevant literature and studies. Human health risks were assessed using recommended United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) models, including estimated daily intake (EDI), hazard risk (HR), and hazard index (HI) for each reported PFAA compound in the studied countries.

Purpose: This study evaluates the effectiveness of the inverted internal limiting membrane (ILM) flap technique during vitrectomy for treating macular hole-induced retinal detachment (MHRD) in high myopia patients, a challenging complication for vitreoretinal surgeons due to its treatment complexity.
Methods: We conducted a prospective study analyzing 92 eyes diagnosed with MHRD, all undergoing vitrectomy using the inverted ILM flap technique between February 2022 and September 2024. Successful surgery was defined as achieving retinal reattachment, macular hole closure, and improvement in visual acuity by the 12-month postoperative follow-up.

This study assessed the effects of fenobucarb (F) (1%, 10%, and 20% of the LC-96h value) on the brain cholinesterase (AChE) activity, food intake (FI), feed conversion rate (FCR), and growth of silver barb (, Bleeker, 1849). It also assessed the AChE inhibition levels that cause the abnormal swimming, behavior, and mortality of silver barb and how the feeding regime affects the recovery rate of the AChE activity. The results showed that the brain AChE inhibition increased with the F concentrations.
