Background: There is a lack of standardised psychometric data in electronic health record (EHR)-based research. Proxy measures of symptom severity based on patients' clinical records may be useful surrogates in mental health EHR research.
Aims: This study aimed to validate proxy tools for the short versions of the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS-6), Young Mania Rating Scale (YMRS-6) and Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS-6).

The progression of obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) is intricately linked with adipose tissue (AT) angiogenesis. Despite an established network of microRNAs (miRNAs) regulating AT function, the specific role of angiogenic miRNAs remains less understood. The miR-221/222 cluster has recently emerged as being associated with antiangiogenic activity.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) continue to be the main cause of death in our country. Adequate control of lipid metabolism disorders is a key challenge in cardiovascular prevention that is far from being achieved in real clinical practice. There is a great heterogeneity in the reports of lipid metabolism from Spanish clinical laboratories, which may contribute to its poor control.

Background And Aims: The diagnosis of malnutrition in post-critical COVID-19 patients is challenging as a result of the high prevalence of obesity, as well as the variability and previously reported inconsistencies across currently available assessment methods. Bioelectrical impedance vector analysis (BIVA) with phase angle (PhA) and nutritional ultrasound (NU) are emerging techniques that have been proven successful in assessing body composition with high precision in previous studies. Our study aims to determine the performance and usefulness of PhA and rectus femoris cross-sectional area (RF-CSA) measurements in assessing body composition as part of the full routine morphofunctional assessment used in the clinical setting, as well as their capacity to predict severe malnutrition and to assess complications and aggressive therapy requirements during recent intensive care unit (ICU) admission, in a cohort of post-critically ill COVID-19 outpatients.

Objective: To assess real-world safety and effectiveness of dapagliflozin in people living with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).
Methods: We conducted a multicenter retrospective study in Spain including data from 250 people living with T1DM receiving dapagliflozin as add-on therapy to insulin (80.8 % on-label use).

Introduction: Our aim was to investigate the prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) and recently diagnosed lung cancer in the outpatient oncology clinic and to describe the clinical profile, management and outcomes of this population.
Methods: Among 6984 patients visited at the outpatient oncology clinics attending lung cancer patients in five university hospitals from 2017 to 2019, all consecutive subjects with recently diagnosed (<1 year) disease and AF were retrospectively selected and events in follow up were registered.
Results: A total of 269 patients (3.

Introduction: The chronic inflammatory skin disease Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is strongly associated with Crohn's Disease (CD). HS and CD share clinical similarities and similar inflammatory pathways are upregulated in both conditions. Increased prevalence of inflammatory disease in industrialised nations has been linked to the Western diet.

Objective: Depression in people with diabetes is associated with poorer health outcomes. Although web programs integrating cognitive-behavioral therapy with diabetes education have shown good results, no similar approach has been implemented in Spain. This aim of this study was to administer an Internet-based cognitive-behavioral therapy program (CBT) for the treatment of mild-moderate depressive symptomatology in individuals with type 1 diabetes (WEB_TDDI1 study) and evaluate the efficacy of this program.

Background: Multiple system atrophy (MSA) is subdivided into two types: MSA-P (parkinsonian) and MSA-C (cerebellar). Brain SPECT allows for the detection of nigrostriatal involvement, even in the early stages. To date, the scientific literature does not show a consensus on how to follow-up MSA, especially MSA-C.

Health misinformation is pervasive on the internet and social media and can have wide-ranging and devastating repercussions. Burn injuries are highly prevalent, especially in resource-poor countries with less rigorous health and safety regulations and reduced access to quality healthcare, and especially among the pediatric population who rely on caregivers to tend to their injuries. Correct first aid is crucial to improving burn outcomes and avoiding further complications.

Background: The value of the phase angle (PhA), measured via bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), could be considered a good marker of the cell mass and the cell damage of a patient; however, there are new techniques, such as muscle ultrasonography, that allow the quantity and quality of muscle to be assessed in a minimally invasive way. The aim of this study is to determine the prognostic value of morphofunctional techniques in the prognosis of mortality in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
Methods: This multicenter, cross-sectional study included 86 patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis with a mean age of 71 years, 82.

In the last few years, the use of anesthetic drugs has been related to effects other than those initially related to their fundamental effect, hypnosis. Halogenated anesthetics, mainly sevoflurane, have been used as a therapeutic tool in patients undergoing cardiac surgery, thanks to the beneficial effect of the cardiac protection they generate. This effect has been described in several research studies.

Objective: To determine if the addition of the assessment of levator ani muscle (LAM) avulsion to the measurement of the difference in the pubis-uterine fundus distance between rest and with the Valsalva maneuver could increase the diagnostic capacity of ultrasound for uterine prolapse (UP).
Methods: This multicenter, observational and prospective study included 145 patients. Ultrasound assessment was performed, establishing the diagnosis of UP as a difference between the pubic-uterine fundus distance at rest and during the Valsalva maneuver ≥15 mm (standard technique), while LAM avulsion was defined as an abnormal LAM insertion in three central slices using multislice ultrasound.

Objectives: Advances in Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) device technology in recent years have led to the development of SCS systems that are magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-conditional, most of which are dependent on normal lead impedances. The objective of this study was to retrospectively analyze the rate of elevated lead impedance in these devices to determine the rate of failure of MR-conditional modes.
Materials And Methods: This was a single-center, retrospective, chart-based review conducted during a five-year period.

The rapid development of machine learning (ML) techniques has opened up the data-dense field of microbiome research for novel therapeutic, diagnostic, and prognostic applications targeting a wide range of disorders, which could substantially improve healthcare practices in the era of precision medicine. However, several challenges must be addressed to exploit the benefits of ML in this field fully. In particular, there is a need to establish "gold standard" protocols for conducting ML analysis experiments and improve interactions between microbiome researchers and ML experts.

Background And Aims: Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a rare chronic liver disease of unknown aetiology; the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unclear and risk factors are not well-defined. We aimed to investigate the risk of HCC across a multicentre AIH cohort and to identify predictive factors.
Methods: We performed a retrospective, observational, multicentric study of patients included in the International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group Retrospective Registry.
