Background: Perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are ubiquitous in the environment and accumulate in humans. PFAS are suspected to affect the neuropsychological function of children, but only few studies have evaluated the association with childhood attention and executive function.

Objectives: To investigate the association between intrauterine exposure to PFAS and offspring attention and executive function.

Background: Previous studies reported regional differences in end-of-life care (EoLC) for critically ill patients in Europe.

Objectives: The purpose of this post-hoc analysis of the prospective multicentre COVIP study was to investigate variations in EoLC practices among older patients in intensive care units during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.

Methods: A total of 3105 critically ill patients aged 70 years and older were enrolled in this study (Central Europe: n = 1573; Northern Europe: n = 821; Southern Europe: n = 711).

Background Mutations in gene encoding the Na,K-ATPase α isoform are associated with familial hemiplegic migraine type 2. Migraine with aura is a known risk factor for heart disease. The Na,K-ATPase is important for cardiac function, but its role for heart disease remains unknown.

Confidentiality breaches in hospital: the experiences of young people and parents.

Background: Healthcare professionals, including nurses, have a vital role in protecting patient confidentiality. However, evidence shows that breaches of confidentiality are common in hospitals for various reasons, including the ward design and issues related to healthcare staff's professionalism. The situation can be complicated further in paediatric care because of the age range of patients and their associated needs and rights about information sharing, confidentiality and consent.

The impact of full-thickness rotator cuff tear on shoulder function and quality of life in patients who sustain a proximal humerus fracture-a prospective cohort study.

Background: Only few studies have investigated the impact of rotator cuff integrity on patients with proximal humerus fracture (PHF). We aimed to determine if the presence of a rotator cuff tear impairs shoulder function and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) after nonsurgically treated PHF.

Methods: Sixty-seven patients with PHF were recruited prospectively in a cohort.

Study protocol: Prosthesis versus Active (ProAct) exercise program in patients with glenohumeral osteoarthritis - a multicenter, randomized controlled trial.

Background And Purpose: Total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) and shoulder exercises are both effective treatments for reducing pain and improving function in glenohumeral osteoarthritis. However, the effectiveness of TSA has not been compared with non-surgical treatment in a randomized controlled trial. We will examine whether TSA followed bystandard postsurgical rehabilitation is superior to a 12-week exercise program in patients with primary glenohumeral OA who are eligible for unilateral TSA.

Inflammation-scores as prognostic markers of overall survival in lung cancer: a register-based study of 6,210 Danish lung cancer patients.

Background: Inflammation-scores based on general inflammation markers are suggested as prognostic markers of overall survival (OS) in lung cancer. However, whether these inflammation-scores improves the prognostication performed by well-established prognostic markers is unsettled. In a large register-based lung cancer patient cohort, nine different inflammation-scores were compared, and their ability to optimize the prognostication of OS was evaluated.

Intrathoracic Goiter Visualized on iodine-123 and technetium-99m Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography/Computed Tomography.

Goiter with an intrathoracic component is relatively common; however, it is less common to see extent outside the anterior or posterior mediastinum. We present a case of intrathoracic goiter of significant size and abnormal placement which is examined using both Tc-pertechnetate and iodine-123 single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography.

Goal-directed haemodynamic therapy during general anaesthesia for noncardiac surgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: During general anaesthesia for noncardiac surgery, there remain knowledge gaps regarding the effect of goal-directed haemodynamic therapy on patient-centred outcomes.

Methods: Included clinical trials investigated goal-directed haemodynamic therapy during general anaesthesia in adults undergoing noncardiac surgery and reported at least one patient-centred postoperative outcome. PubMed and Embase were searched for relevant articles on March 8, 2021.

The operational definition of epileptiform discharges significantly improves diagnostic accuracy and inter-rater agreement of trainees in EEG reading.

To assess whether trainees can learn and implement the operational definition of interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs) of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology (IFCN), based on six morphological criteria, and whether its implementation improves their diagnostic performance and inter-rater agreement (IRA). Seven trainees evaluated a balanced dataset of 70 EEG samples containing sharp transients (35 from patients with epilepsy and 35 from patients with non-epileptic paroxysmal events). The gold standard was derived from video-EEG recordings of the habitual clinical episodes.

Effect of Intravenous or Intraosseous Calcium vs Saline on Return of Spontaneous Circulation in Adults With Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: It is unclear whether administration of calcium has a beneficial effect in patients with cardiac arrest.

Objective: To determine whether administration of calcium during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest improves return of spontaneous circulation in adults.

Design, Setting, And Participants: This double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial included 397 adult patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and was conducted in the Central Denmark Region between January 20, 2020, and April 15, 2021.

Anterior-Lateral Versus Anterior-Posterior Electrode Position for Cardioverting Atrial Fibrillation.

Background: Smaller randomized studies have reported conflicting results regarding the optimal electrode position for cardioverting atrial fibrillation. However, anterior-posterior electrode positioning is widely used as a standard and believed to be superior to anterior-lateral electrode positioning. Therefore, we aimed to compare anterior-lateral and anterior-posterior electrode positioning for cardioverting atrial fibrillation in a multicenter randomized trial.

Comparison of ultrasound with electrodiagnosis of scapular winging: A prospective case control study.

Objective: Compare high-resolution ultrasound (HRUS) and electrodiagnostic examination (EDX) in the diagnostic workup of patients with scapulae alatae.

Methods: 27 patients with scapulae alatae and 41 healthy subjects (HS) and underwent a standardized clinical examination (CEX), EDX and HRUS. We measured the thickness of the serratus anterior (SER), rhomboid major and trapezius muscles and the diameter of the long thoracic (LTN), dorsal scapular and spinal accessory nerves (SAN).

Ocrelizumab treatment in multiple sclerosis: A Danish population-based cohort study.

Background And Purpose: Real-world evidence regarding the effectiveness and safety of ocrelizumab for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) is limited. The aim was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of ocrelizumab treatment for MS in a real-world setting.

Methods: A nationwide population-based cohort study was conducted where clinical and magnetic resonance imaging data of MS patients enrolled prospectively in the Danish Multiple Sclerosis Registry who initiated ocrelizumab treatment between January 2018 and November 2020 were analyzed.

Background: Chronic mesenteric ischaemia (CMI) is a vastly underdiagnosed condition that typically leads to postprandial abdominal pain and weight loss. The aim of the study was to explore the involvement of various mesenteric vessels in total splanchnic blood flow (SBF) and hepatic vein oxygenation.

Effect of stereotactic body radiotherapy on regional metabolic liver function investigated in patients by dynamic [F]FDGal PET/CT.

Purpose: Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is increasingly used for treatment of liver tumors but the effect on metabolic liver function in surrounding tissue is largely unknown. Using 2-deoxy-2-[F]fluoro-D-galactose ([F]FDGal) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT), we aimed to determine a dose-response relationship between radiation dose and metabolic liver function as well as recovery.

Procedures: One male subject with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and five subjects (1 female, 4 male) with liver metastases from colorectal cancer (mCRC) underwent [F]FDGal PET/CT before SBRT and after 1 and 3 months.
