Department of Adult and Elderly Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Prince of Songkla University, Songkhla, Thailand.
Background: Many older people with comorbidities encounter emergency or life-threatening situations, but the response is often neglected or delayed, resulting in increased morbidity and mortality rates. Community preparedness to reduce the impact of emergency crises on older people is essential. This study aimed to determine the effect of an emergency scenario-based training program (ESBTP) for elderly care on the knowledge, self-confidence, and competency of volunteer caregivers in a rural Thai community.

Background: Repurposed drugs with host-directed antiviral and immunomodulatory properties have shown promise in the treatment of COVID-19, but few trials have studied combinations of these agents. The aim of this trial was to assess the effectiveness of affordable, widely available, repurposed drugs used in combination for treatment of COVID-19, which may be particularly relevant to low-resource countries.
Methods: We conducted an open-label, randomized, outpatient, controlled trial in Thailand from October 1, 2021, to June 21, 2022, to assess whether early treatment within 48-h of symptoms onset with combinations of fluvoxamine, bromhexine, cyproheptadine, and niclosamide, given to adults with confirmed mild SARS-CoV-2 infection, can prevent 28-day clinical deterioration compared to standard care.

Purpose: Hair transplantation using the sharp implanter method is increasing in popularity. However, there has been little discussion pertaining to surgical know-how or specific techniques that increase efficiency and precision. We describe surgical techniques that enable dense packing in a swift and efficient fashion with the sharp implanter method using photos and videos.

Strongyloidiasis is a disease caused by and remains a neglected tropical infection despite significant public health concerns. Challenges in the management of strongyloidiasis arise from wide ranging clinical presentations, lack of practical high sensitivity diagnostic tests, and a fatal outcome in immunocompromised hosts. Migration, globalization, and increased administration of immunomodulators, particularly during the COVID-19 era, have amplified the global impact of strongyloidiasis.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV)/human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) coinfection is a major problem among HIV-infected patients, resulting in increased morbidity and mortality rates due to the acceleration of liver fibrosis progression by HIV, leading to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Although the efficacy of direct-acting antiviral therapy in patients with HIV/HCV coinfection and HCV monoinfection are similar in terms of sustained virologic response rate, there are some additional complications that arise in the treatment of patients with HIV/HCV coinfection, including drug-drug interactions and HCV reinfection due to the high risk behavior of these patients. This review will summarize the current management of HIV/HCV coinfection.

Aim: In June 2015, the Thai Rheumatism Association (TRA) approved an update of its recommendation for the use of biologic disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) and targeted synthetic (tsDMARD) in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) to cover those currently available in Thailand (etanercept, infliximab, golimumab, rituximab, tocilizumab, abatacept and tofacitinib).
Method: A search of the literature was performed between January 2000 and June 2015. Existing RA recommendations, in relation to the use of bDMARDs and tsDMARD, were identified and evaluated by the AGREE II instrument prior to their use as a 'guide' for developing this TRA recommendation.
