Introduction: Distinguishing meningiomas from other intracranial neoplasms is clinically relevant as the prognostic and therapeutic implications differ greatly and influence clinical decision making. Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) is an imaging technique that assists with characterisation of physiologic alterations such as blood flow and tissue vascular permeability. Quantitative pharmacokinetic analysis utilising DCE-MRI has not been studied in canine neuro-oncology.

An adult, female, mixed breed sow from a commercial breeding unit, with a clinical history of lethargy, poor body condition, hypersalivation, dyspnoea and reddened ears, was submitted for necropsy. Post-mortem examination identified the presence of an intestinal volvulus, which developed around an osseous intra-abdominal mesenteric lesion. Gross pathology and histopathology combined with post-mortem computed tomography (CT) of the mass confirmed the lesion as intra-abdominal heterotopic mesenteric ossification (IHMO), according to criteria applied to human disease.

Background: Peripheral nodal B-cell lymphomas (PNBCL) represent the most common presentation of lymphomas in dogs. Multiagent CHOP (C = cyclophosphamide, H = hydroxydaunorubicin [Doxorubicin], O = Oncovin, P = prednisolone)-based chemotherapy protocols have been widely accepted as gold standard 1st-line treatment. CHOP-25 and CHOP-19 are most commonly prescribed but have never been directly compared.

Epilepsy is a common neurological condition in dogs. Analysis of primary care populations across countries can provide a more complete understanding of the epidemiology of this condition and provide context for spectrum of care discussions. This narrative literature review was aimed at understanding canine epilepsy/seizure prevalence in primary care populations, and changes in occurrence across geography, culture, and socioeconomic status.

The cerebral biomarkers, neurofilament light chain (NfL), amyloid-β, tau, and neuron specific enolase (NSE) reflect a wide spectrum of neurological damage in the brain and spinal cord. With this study, we aimed to assess whether these biomarkers hold any potential diagnostic value for the three most common canine neurological diseases. Canines suffering from meningoencephalitis of unknown origin (MUO), brain tumors, and selected non-infectious myelopathies were included.

Blockage of the dorsal rami of the spinal nerves (DRSN) provides analgesia to the epaxial musculature area in dogs. However, techniques to block the DRSN at the cervical level in dogs haven't yet been investigated. This study aimed to study the anatomy of the cervical area, and to describe a new ultrasound (US)-guided inter-transversospinalis plane (ITP) block technique at the 5th cervical vertebrae (C5).

Objective: To explore the differences in outcomes between dogs with intrahepatic portosystemic shunts (IHPSSs) partially occluded with a mattress suture with pledgets or attenuated with cellophane banding.
Methods: 74 dogs with IHPSSs were included in this retrospective study. Medical records between January 2000 and February 2020 were evaluated for information on dogs undergoing laparotomy with cellophane banding (group C) or mattress suture with pledgets (group P) for treatment of IHPSSs, including specific outcomes of survival time, persistence of clinical signs, and necessity of continued medical management.

The clinical findings associated with a bleeding disorder, suspected to be an immune mediated pathogenesis comparable to bovine neonatal pancytopenia (BNP), in a 14-day-old Holstein calf are summarised. The clinical examination, clinical laboratory findings, treatment, postmortem findings and referral laboratory diagnostics are reported and discussed in relation to existing knowledge of bleeding disorders in cattle. Veterinary attention was required for a twin 14-day-old Holstein calf that was lethargic, weak and had pale mucous membranes.

An 8-year-old neutered male Bengal cat was referred because of a 1-year history of progressive and relapsing generalized muscle weakness and muscle atrophy. Before referral, the cat was treated with immunosuppressive doses of oral prednisolone, intermittently for 6 mo, and had responded well when the immunosuppressive dose was maintained. Generalized paresis, diffuse muscle atrophy, and diminished spinal reflexes were present in all limbs, consistent with a generalized lower motor neuron disease.
