Article Synopsis
  • - Vancomycin is an important antibiotic that requires careful monitoring to ensure its effectiveness against Gram-positive bacterial infections, with recent guidelines recommending AUC (area under the curve) based monitoring for better therapeutic outcomes.
  • - Researchers developed a new simplified equation, called SSTA, which estimates AUC using steady-state trough concentration and other patient factors based on data from over 1,000 TDM records from hospitalized patients.
  • - The SSTA model was validated against data from other hospitals and demonstrated competitive accuracy in predicting AUC, indicating it could serve as a useful tool for monitoring vancomycin therapy effectively and easily.

Background: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is one of the most reliable markers of ovarian reserve. Automated AMH assays are widely used in clinical laboratories, but reference intervals for the Elecsys AMH assay for Asian populations have not yet been determined. We aimed to determine reference intervals in healthy Korean women.

To investigate the effect of bone metastasis (BM) on survival outcomes in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC) treated with first-line tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) by performing propensity-score matching (PSM) analysis. We retrospectively reviewed 1,151 patients with mRCC who were treated with first-line TKI from December 2006 to September 2016. After excluding 135 patients, 1,016 patients with mRCC were finally analyzed.

Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (anti-CCPs) are important diagnostic markers for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). We evaluated the analytical and clinical performance of the QUANTA Flash CCP3 (INOVA Diagnostics, USA), a fully automated third-generation anti-CCP assay, in comparison with three second-generation anti-CCP (CCP2) assays. A total of 300 sera (67 from RA patients, 64 from other rheumatic diseases, 43 from osteoarthritis [OA], and 126 from other conditions) were tested with QUANTA Flash CCP3, Kallestad Anti-CCP II (Bio-Rad, USA), Elecsys Anti-CCP (Roche Diagnostics GmbH, Germany), and ARCHITECT Anti-CCP (Abbott Diagnostics, USA).
