Pre-emptive kidney transplantation (PKT) has long been considered the optimal treatment for patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD) seeking the most favourable long-term outcomes. However, the significant growth in transplant procedures over recent decades has led to a notable increase in wait-listed patients and a disproportionate demand for donor organs. This situation necessitates a re-evaluation of transplantation timing and the establishment of rational indications from both societal and clinical perspectives.

Background: The EyeCee ONE intraocular lens (Nidek, Gamagori, Japan) has been withdrawn from the market due to a high number of reports of severe ocular hypertension (OHT) following phacoemulsification with implantation of this intraocular lens (IOL). In this case series, we report the results of a toxicological analysis and the surgical management of five patients with severe OHT following the implantation of defective EyeCee ONE IOLs during cataract surgery.
Cases Presentation: Five patients developed early, severe OHT refractory to maximal medical therapy following uneventful phacoemulsification (PCE) cataract surgery with implantation of an EyeCee ONE IOL from a defective lot.

Purpose: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in patients with sequelae of poliomyelitis is a surgical challenge due to muscle weakness, bone deformities or post-polio syndrome (PPS). Few data exist to determine the factors contributing to poor functional results. This study aimed: (1) to describe a cohort of patients with poliomyelitis sequelae who underwent TKA; (2) to examine risk factors for poor functional outcome.

Background: Describe the technique and the long-term results of total laparoscopic aorto-bifemoral bypass for juxtarenal aortic occlusion (JRAO).
Methods: From December 2000 to January 2023, 16 patients with a JRAO (TASC D lesions) underwent total laparoscopic aorto-bifemoral bypass. The patients' database was prospective and the file analysis was retrospective.

The Pierre Robin Sequence is a rare craniofacial malformation that invariably combines retrognathism, glossoptosis, and upper airway obstruction, with a prevalence ranging from 1 in 8000 to 1 in 14,000 newborns. Although formally described by the French physician Pierre Robin in 1923, older and even ancient as far back as the Babylonian times, descriptions have been identified. Dr Pierre Robin's perspicacity lay in putting up a treatment for the patients presenting those symptoms.

Background: Increased time from symptom onset to puncture (TSOP) and time from puncture to reperfusion (TPTR) are associated with worse outcome in ischemic stroke patients treated with endovascular therapy (EVT) in the early time window (<6 h). However, these associations are less described in the late window (>6 h), where patients may benefit from EVT because of a more favorable imaging profile (late window paradox). We sought to compare the effect of these timeframes between these two periods on efficacy and safety outcomes.

Robotic-assisted thoracic surgery has emerged as a prominent technique for performing radical thymectomies in patients affected by early-stage thymic tumours. This technique is favoured because of its high ergonomics, superior image quality, enhanced instrument manoeuvrability and exceptional precision. Among the different surgical approaches developed, the unilateral and the bilateral intercostal approaches are the most widely diffused.

Background: Pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinomas (PSC) are notorious for their poor prognosis and resistance to chemotherapy. The literature suggests that immunotherapy might be effective against this aggressive tumor. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of immunotherapy, either alone or combined with chemotherapy, as first-line treatment for PSC patients.

Background: This systematic review investigated the surgical, functional, and oncological outcomes of transoral robotic supraglottic laryngectomy (TORS-SGL) for cT1-T3 laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC).
Methods: Two investigators conducted an updated PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library systematic review for studies investigating the surgical, functional, and oncological outcomes of TORS-SGL using the PRISMA statements. The bias analysis was conducted with the MINORS.

Associations of chronic kidney disease (CKD) with metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease (CVD) have long been recognized. Until recently, such associations were mainly limited to interrelationships between either heart and kidney, heart and metabolic syndrome, or metabolic syndrome and kidney. It is the merit of the American Heart Association (AHA) to have set up a work group of cardiologists, endocrinologists, and nephrologists for the purpose of combining all 3 disorders in a single entity, as an appreciation of their pathophysiological interrelatedness.

Purpose Of Review: This review is a critical analysis of treatment results obtained in clinical trials conducted in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT), hyperphosphatemia, or both.
Recent Findings: Patients with CKD have a high mortality rate. The disorder of mineral and bone metabolism (CKD-MBD), which is commonly present in these patients, is associated with adverse outcomes, including cardiovascular events and mortality.

Purpose Of Review: The risk of cognitive impairment is higher in people with CKD than in the general population. The complex relationship between CKD and cognitive dysfunction has not been extensively characterized. Here, we review epidemiological associations, specific patterns of CKD-related cognitive impairment, the underlying mechanisms, and recently published data on relevant biomarkers.

Introduction: It is unknown whether the influence of age on clinical outcomes post endovascular treatment (EVT) is similar in posterior circulation stroke (PCS) compared to anterior circulation stroke (ACS).
Methods: Data were extracted from the ETIS registry, a nationwide prospective, multicenter, observational registry for stroke EVT procedures in France. We included patients treated with EVT for PCS or ACS between January 2015 and August 2023.

Purpose: To evaluate performance of synthetic and real FLAIR for identifying early stroke in a multicenter cohort.
Methods: This retrospective study was conducted using DWI and FLAIR extracted from the Endovascular Treatment in Ischemic Stroke image registry (2017-2021). The database was partitioned into subsets according to MRI field strength and manufacturer, and randomly divided into training set (70%) used for model fine-tuning, validation set (15%), and test set (15%).

Rupture of the pectoralis major tendon is an uncommon injury but increasing in incidence. Surgical management is often needed, and ruptures treated acutely show more favorable results. However, a significant number of ruptures are missed and diagnosed later in a chronic state.

Background: The arrival of one's first child is a known risk factor for mental illness, yet investigations on fathers' mental health are limited. We conducted a longitudinal investigation on paternal depression and anxiety in the nine years surrounding the transition to fatherhood.
Methods: Using a national cohort of French men (CONSTANCES, n = 6299), we investigated the prevalence and associated risk factors of mental illness amongst first-time fathers.
