Variation in severe postpartum hemorrhage management: A national vignette-based study.

Objectives: To assess variations in management of severe postpartum hemorrhage: 1) between obstetricians in the same situation 2) by the same obstetrician in different situations.

Study Design: A link to a vignette-based survey was emailed to obstetricians of 215 maternity units; the questionnaire asked them to report how they would manage the PPH described in 2 previously validated case-vignettes of different scenarios of severe PPH. Vignette 1 described a typical immediate, severe PPH, and vignette 2 a less typical case of severe but gradual PPH.

Work stress and risk of death in men and women with and without cardiometabolic disease: a multicohort study.

Background: Although some cardiovascular disease prevention guidelines suggest a need to manage work stress in patients with established cardiometabolic disease, the evidence base for this recommendation is weak. We sought to clarify the status of stress as a risk factor in cardiometabolic disease by investigating the associations between work stress and mortality in men and women with and without pre-existing cardiometabolic disease.

Methods: In this multicohort study, we used data from seven cohort studies in the IPD-Work consortium, initiated between 1985 and 2002 in Finland, France, Sweden, and the UK, to examine the association between work stress and mortality.

Work factors associated with return to work in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survivors.

Introduction: Although the survival rate after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) has increased over time, little is known about the return to work of OHCA survivors. We aim to evaluate prevalence and factors associated with return to work (RTW) in OHCA survivors.

Patients And Methods: All consecutive OHCA survivors aged 18-65 years and discharged alive from a Paris tertiary intensive care unit between 2000 and 2013 were included.

Administration of oxytocin during spontaneous labour: A national vignette-based study among midwives.

Objective: (1) to assess variations in oxytocin use by midwives during spontaneous labour (indication, dose, moment), and (2) to identify factors potentially associated with oxytocin administration.

Design: descriptive cross-sectional study using a case-vignette and questionnaire among French midwives from November 2015 to May 2016.

Methods: Midwives were asked to complete an online survey including a case-vignette with hourly partograms of a slowly progressing labour, and a short self-administered questionnaire.

Impact of recommended changes in labor management for prevention of the primary cesarean delivery.

Background: The dramatic rise in cesarean delivery rates worldwide in recent decades, without evidence of a concomitant decrease in cerebral palsy rates, has raised concerns about its potential negative consequences for maternal and infant health. In 2014, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine jointly published an Obstetric Care Consensus for safe prevention of the primary cesarean delivery.

Objective: We sought to assess whether modification of our protocol to implement these recommendations helped to decrease our primary cesarean delivery rate safely.

A self-administered questionnaire to measure the painful symptoms of endometriosis: Results of a modified DELPHI survey of patients and physicians.

Purpose: To develop a questionnaire based on patients' verbal descriptors, to measure the painful symptoms of endometriosis.

Methods: We performed a two-round modified DELPHI procedure mixing endometriosis patients and physicians to select a set of statements to describe the painful symptoms of endometriosis. Each panelist rated each statement based on diagnosis validity and clarity.

Impact of Rhinitis on Work Productivity: A Systematic Review.

Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is increasingly acknowledged as having a substantial socioeconomic impact associated with impaired work productivity, although available information remains fragmented.

Objective: This systematic review summarizes recently available information to provide a quantitative estimate of the burden of AR on work productivity including lost work time (ie, absenteeism) and reduced performance while working (ie, presenteeism).

Methods: A Medline search retrieved original studies from 2005 to 2015 pertaining to the impact of AR on work productivity.

Urethral Closure Pressure at Stress: A Predictive Measure for the Diagnosis and Severity of Urinary Incontinence in Women.

Purpose: Maintaining urinary continence at stress requires a competent urethral sphincter and good suburethral support. Sphincter competence is estimated by measuring the maximal urethral closure pressure at rest. We aimed to study the value of a new urodynamic measure, the urethral closure pressure at stress (s-UCP), in the diagnosis and severity of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI).

Hyperckemia and myalgia are common presentations of anoctamin-5-related myopathy in French patients.

Introduction: Patients with anoctamin-5 (ANO5) mutations may present not only with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2L or adult-onset Miyoshi-type myopathy but also with asymptomatic hyperCKemia, exercise intolerance, or rhabdomyolysis.

Materials And Methods: Data from 38 patients in France with ANO5 mutations with and without muscle weakness on first examination were compared.

Lateral Epicondylitis and Physical Exposure at Work? A Review of Prospective Studies and Meta-Analysis.

Objective: In view of recent published studies, a meta-analysis was undertaken on prospective studies in order to assess any association between lateral epicondylitis and physical exposure at work.

Methods: Using the key words "lateral epicondylitis" AND "occupational" AND ("cohort" OR "longitudinal," OR "incidence") without limitations on the language or year of publication, original prospective studies were selected from 4 databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Base de Données de Santé Publique) after 2 rounds (valid design, valid association reported, and valid work exposure). Relevant associations between physical exposure at work and incident lateral epicondylitis were extracted from the articles, and a meta-risk was calculated using the generic variance approach (meta-odds ratios [meta-ORs]).

Occupational Practitioner's Role in the Management of a Crisis: Lessons Learned from the Paris November 2015 Terrorist Attack.

In massive catastrophic events, occupational health practitioners are more and more frequently involved in the management of such situations. We aim to describe the multiple aspects of the role that occupational health practitioners might play, by focusing on the recent example of the Paris terrorist attack of November 2015. During and after the Paris attack, occupational practitioners, in collaboration with emergency and security professionals, were involved in psychological care, assembling information, follow-up, return-to-work, and improving in-company safety plans.

Development of a French version of the Endometriosis Health Profile 5 (EHP-5): cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric evaluation.

Purpose: The Endometriosis Health Profile 5 (EHP-5) is a short version of an endometriosis-specific quality of life questionnaire. The objective of the study was to assess the psychometric validity of its French version.

Methods: A total of 125 patients with histologically proven endometriosis who underwent surgery for painful symptoms and 80 asymptomatic controls completed the EHP-5.

Association between depression and anemia in otherwise healthy adults.

Objective: It remains debated whether anemia is associated with depression, independently of physical health factors. We report a large-scale cross-sectional study examining this association in adults free of chronic disease and medication from the general population.

Characteristics of Cardiac Arrest Occurring in the Workplace: A Post Hoc Analysis of the Paris Area Fire Brigade Registry.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) in different workplaces, their management, and the survival rate.

Methods: A post hoc analysis included all the OHCA cases that occurred at the workplace and were listed in the Fire Brigade of Paris database registry (2010 to 2014). Utstein-style variables, survival, and types of workplace were analyzed.

Domains of cognitive function in early old age: which ones are predicted by pre-retirement psychosocial work characteristics?

Background: Psychosocial work characteristics may predict cognitive functioning after retirement. However, little research has explored specific cognitive domains associated with psychosocial work environments. Our study tested whether exposure to job demands, job control and their combination during working life predicted post-retirement performance on eight cognitive tests.
